Population Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Artemether and Lumefantrine During Combination Treatment in Children with Uncomplicated Falciparum Malaria in Tanzania. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The combination of artemether (ARM) and lumefantrine is currently the first-line treatment of uncomplicated falciparum malaria in mainland Tanzania. While the exposure to lumefantrine has been associated with the probability of adequate clinical and ...

Accelerated peripheral dose calculation for radiotherapy

open access: yes, 2021

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

CHROMOSOMAL ABERRATIONS AND MICRONUCLEI IN LYMPHOCYTES OF MEDICAL RADIATION WORKERS EXPOSED TO LONIZING RADIATION BELOW DOSE LIMIT [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2001
Introduction: Ionizing radiation induces various kinds of DNA damage in which may lead to chromosomal aberrations (CA). Inspite of growing importance in the risk assessment, the dose yield kinetics of CA and their implications for dose assessment are not

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Construction of In vitro Dose-response Curve for Human Peripheral Blood Exposed to High-energy Clinical 6 MV X-rays

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth
Introduction High-energy LINAC X-rays are used instead of the traditional modality (γ-rays) in cancer radiotherapy. Health professionals may be exposed to these high-energy X-rays owing to mishandling or mechanical failure, and using a low-energy X-rays ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
