Optical coherence tomography imaging of evoked neural activity in sciatic nerve of rat [PDF]
Significance: Imaging neural activity in myelinated tissue using optical coherence tomography (OCT) creates new possibilities for functional imaging in the peripheral and central nervous systems. Aim: To investigate changes in OCT images in response to evoked neural activity in sciatic nerve of rat in vitro.

Iron role paradox in nerve degeneration and regeneration [PDF]
Iron accumulates in the neural tissue during peripheral nerve degeneration. Some studies have already been suggested that iron facilitates Wallerian degeneration (WD) events such as Schwann cell de-differentiation. On the other hand, intracellular iron levels remain elevated during nerve regeneration and gradually decrease.

Automatic Ultrasound Image Segmentation of Supraclavicular Nerve Using Dilated U-Net Deep Learning Architecture [PDF]
Automated object recognition in medical images can facilitate medical diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we automatically segmented supraclavicular nerves in ultrasound images to assist in injecting peripheral nerve blocks. Nerve blocks are generally used for pain treatment after surgery, where ultrasound guidance is used to inject local ...

Development of three dimensional, conducting structures for nerve regenerative applications [PDF]
Peripheral nerve damage affects thousands of people every year. While less severe injuries usually heal over time, surgery is the only option to attempt restoration of sensation and function in severely damaged peripheral nerves.

Peripheral Nerve Injury and Current Treatment Strategies [PDF]
Neuronal cells are the main fundamental anatomic unit of the system. Nerve injuries are generally divided into three categories as neuropraxia, axonotmesis and neurotmesis. Neurotmesis is the most severe form.

This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.
