Clinical implications of DNA ploidy, stroma, and nucleotyping in predicting peritoneal metastasis risk for gastric cancer

open access: yesBMC Cancer
Background Gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis lacks effective predictive indices. This article retrospectively explored predictive values of DNA ploidy, stroma, and nucleotyping in gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis.

HMMR promotes peritoneal implantation of gastric cancer by increasing cell–cell interactions

open access: yesDiscover Oncology, 2022
Background Distant metastasis is the prominent factor for cancer-induced death of gastric cancer in which peritoneum is one of the dominating targets of gastric cancer metastasis.

Intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric cancer with peritoneal metastasis [PDF]

open access: yesGastric Cancer, 2016
Peritoneal metastasis is the most frequent pattern of gastric cancer recurrence or metastasis and is a definitive determinant of prognosis. However, an effective means of treating peritoneal disease has not yet been established. Systemic chemotherapy has only a limited effect on peritoneal metastasis, although some progress has been shown in terms of ...

BGN/MDK Axis in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment Strengthens Tumor Malignancy by Modulating Cancer Cells and Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that m6A regulators cooperatively upregulate BGN in melanoma, promoting malignancy. Within the tumor microenvironment, CAFs show highest BGN expression. The BGN/MDK axis mediates cancer‐stroma crosstalk, driving normal fibroblast (NF) activation and enhancing the pro‐tumor effect of CAFs, highlighting a promising therapeutic target ...

Intussusception secondary to a solitary peritoneal lung metastasis [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2013
We report a 77-year-old woman, newly diagnosed with a malignant lung neoplasm of indeterminate nature who presented with profuse bilious vomiting without abdominal distension, pain or constipation. CT confirmed proximal small bowel obstruction. Laparotomy found a large area of intussusception from an intraluminal mass in the small bowel, which was ...

Delivery of Pleckstrin‐Homology Domains Suppresses PI3K/Akt Signaling and Breast Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current therapies curb tumor growth but not metastasis. Obscurin, a giant metastasis suppressor lost in breast cancer, restrains PI3K/Akt signaling but is impractical to restore. We deploy a mini‐obscurin, comprising the obscurin‐PH‐domain, which sequesters PI3K‐p85, potently suppressing invasion and metastasis.

Primary fallopian tube carcinoma presenting with a solitary metastasis in a Spigelian hernia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) is a rare gynaecological tumour. Histologically, this type of tumour resembles other tumours of the female reproductive tract, predominantly serous tumours.

Combination Immunotherapy as a Promising Strategy to Overcome Immunotherapy Resistance: From Emergence to Next‐Generation Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review examines emerging combination immunotherapy strategies tailored to distinct tumor microenvironments and highlights next‐generation biomarkers that guide response prediction and treatment personalization. It integrates lessons from unsuccessful trials, addresses toxicity challenges, and outlines approaches for early biomarker discovery and ...

CD90+ mesothelial-like cells in peritoneal fluid promote peritoneal metastasis by forming a tumor permissive microenvironment. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The peritoneal cavity is a common target of metastatic gastrointestinal and ovarian cancer cells, but the mechanisms leading to peritoneal metastasis have not been fully elucidated.
