Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

forqs: Forward-in-time Simulation of Recombination, Quantitative Traits, and Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
forqs is a forward-in-time simulation of recombination, quantitative traits, and selection. It was designed to investigate haplotype patterns resulting from scenarios where substantial evolutionary change has taken place in a small number of generations ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Permissive nominal terms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a simplified version of nominal terms with improved properties. Nominal terms are themselves a version of first-order terms, adapted to provide primitive support for names, binding, capturing substitution, and alpha-conversion.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Perceived Parenting Styles and Psycho-social Wellbeing of Nigerian Adolescents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The influence of parenting styles on the psychosocial wellbeing of Nigerian adolescents is yet to be given adequate research attention. This study bridges the gap in knowledge.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Student learning with permissive and restrictive cell phone policies: A classroom experiment

open access: yesInternational Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, 2018
Based on Finn and Ledbetter’s (2013; 2014) work regarding classroom technology policies, this experimental study examined the implementation of a permissive and a restrictive cellular phone policy in two sections of a public speaking course, and the ...

Feedback control logic synthesis for non safe Petri nets

open access: yes, 2009
This paper addresses the problem of forbidden states of non safe Petri Net (PN) modelling discrete events systems. To prevent the forbidden states, it is possible to use conditions or predicates associated with transitions.
