Biological activity of pterostilbene against Peronophythora litchii, the litchi downy blight pathogen

open access: yesPostharvest Biology and Technology, 2018
Abstract Peronophythora litchii, the oomycete pathogen of litchi downy blight, infects leaves, flowers and fruits of litchi at pre-harvest stage, while the greatest economic loss was caused at postharvest stage, due to infection occurring during fruit storage and transportation. Therefore, litchi downy blight is considered as an important postharvest

Sequencing of the Litchi Downy Blight Pathogen Reveals It Is a Phytophthora Species With Downy Mildew-Like Characteristics

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2016
On the basis of its downy mildew–like morphology, the litchi downy blight pathogen was previously named Peronophythora litchii. Recently, however, it was proposed to transfer this pathogen to Phytophthora clade 4.

6‑Pentyl‑2H‑pyran-2-one from Trichoderma erinaceum Is Fungicidal against Litchi Downy Blight Pathogen Peronophythora litchii and Preservation of Litchi

open access: yes, 2023
The postharvest losses of litchi caused by litchi downy blight are considerably high. We identified a natural antifungal volatile pyrone, 6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (6PP), synthesized by Trichoderma erinaceum LS019-2 and investigated as biocontrol for ...

First Report of Leaf and Stem Downy Blight of Longan Seedlings Caused by Peronophythora litchii in Taiwan

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2012
Fruit downy blight caused by Peronophythora litchii Chen ex Ko et al. is an important disease of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) in Taiwan, especially in rainy seasons. Previous records indicate litchi as the only natural host of P. litchii, but this pathogen was found on seedlings of longan (Euphoria longana Lamarck) in 2000.

Alternaria alternata Effector Aa593 Promotes Virulence by Hijacking the CmNAC29‐Mediated Abscisic Acid Biosynthesis Pathway in Chrysanthemum

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 2, Page 887-904, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The interaction between plants and pathogens has long been an actively researched field of plant immunity. In this study, we found an Aa593/CmNAC29‐CmNCED3 module associated with the interaction between chrysanthemum and the fungal pathogen Alternaria alternata.

Mining Actinomycetes' Metabolomes and Genomes for Anti‐Phytophthora infestans Compounds

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2025.
Using a comparative metabolomic and genomic approach on 63 actinomycetes, this study identified 75 compounds associated with the strains' ability to inhibit the late blight‐causing agent Phytophthora infestans. This study highlighted the promise of applying multi‐omics techniques on closely related strains differing in biological activity to pinpoint ...
