Protein engineering of Pseudomonas fluorescens peroxidase Dyp1B for oxidation of phenolic and polymeric lignin substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Directed evolution was applied to dye-decolourizing peroxidase Dyp1B from Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf-5, in order to enhance the activity for oxidation of phenolic and lignin substrates.

Dye-decolorizing peroxidases in Irpex lacteus combining the catalytic properties of heme peroxidases and laccase play important roles in ligninolytic system

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2018
BackgroundThe white rot fungus Irpex lacteus exhibits a great potential in biopretreatment of lignocellulose as well as in biodegradation of xenobiotic compounds by extracellular ligninolytic enzymes.

Production of Ligninolytic Enzymes by Coptotermes curvignathus Gut Bacteria

open access: yesEnvironmental and Climate Technologies, 2019
Maximum utilization of lignocellulosic biomass is contingent upon degrading the recalcitrant lignin polymer. Conventional methods employed in delignification require high inputs of energy and chemicals, resulting in the release of highly toxic effluents.

Ligninolytic enzyme production in Pleurotus eryngii depending on the medium composition and cultivation conditions [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Matice Srpske za Prirodne Nauke, 2005
Pleurotus eryngii produced laccase (Lac) both under conditions of submerged fermentation (SF) and solid-state fermentation (SSF) using all of the investigated carbon and nitrogen sources, while significant peroxidases production occurred only under SSF ...

TcI isolates of Trypanosoma cruzi exploit the antioxidant network for enhanced intracellular survival in macrophages and virulence in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Trypanosoma cruzi species is categorized into six discrete typing units (TcI to TcVI) of which TcI is most abundantly noted in the sylvatic transmission cycle and considered the major cause of human disease. In our study, the TcI strains Colombiana (COL),

Inflammatory peroxidases promote breast cancer progression in mice via regulation of the tumour microenvironment.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oncology, 2017
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) and eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) are heme-containing enzymes, well known for their antimicrobial activity, are released in high quantities by infiltrating immune cells in breast cancer.

From Rainforest to Lab: Electrochemical Biosensing with Colombian Plant Peroxidases

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Biotecnología
The peroxidases are a class of enzymes found in various species of Colombian tropical plants. These enzymes belong to the larger group of peroxidases, which are heme-containing proteins involved in catalysing a wide range of reactions in living ...

Multiscale Geometry of the Olsen Model and Non-Classical Relaxation Oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Science, Vol. 25, No. 3, pp. 583-629, 2015, 2014
We study the Olsen model for the peroxidase-oxidase reaction. The dynamics is analyzed using a geometric decomposition based upon multiple time scales. The Olsen model is four-dimensional, not in a standard form required by geometric singular perturbation theory and contains multiple small parameters.

Selenium in biology: Facts and medical perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Several decades after the discovery of setenium as an essential trace element in vertebrates approximately 20 eukaryotic and more than 15 prokaryotic selenoproteins containing the 21(st) proteinogenic amino acid, selenocysteine, have been identified ...
