Formation of Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen Peroxide in Electron Irradiated Crystalline Water Ice [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.639:534-548,2006, 2005
Water ice is abundant both astrophysically, for example in molecular clouds, and in planetary systems. The Kuiper belt objects, many satellites of the outer solar system, the nuclei of comets and some planetary rings are all known to be water-rich.

Investigation of Peroxide, Acidity, and Thermal Stability of Oils Used to Make Falafel in Arak, Iran in 2018

open access: yesتحقیقات سلامت در جامعه, 2020
Introduction and purpose: Due to the increasing consumption of fried foods, it is important to check the quality of the oil used for frying to maintain the health of consumers. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the amount of peroxide, acidity, and

Crystal structure of rubidium peroxide ammonia disolvate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2017
The title compound, Rb2O2·2NH3, has been obtained as a reaction product of rubidium metal dissolved in liquid ammonia and glucuronic acid. As a result of the low-temperature crystallization, a disolvate was formed.

Effects of surfactants/stabilizing agents on the microstructure and properties of porous geopolymers by direct foaming

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2021
Metakaolin-based porous geopolymers were synthesized by direct foaming using various surfactants/stabilizing agents with or without chemical pore-forming agent (hydrogen peroxide).

Establishment and biological characterization of radioresistant colorectal cancer cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under ionizing radiation exposure, radiation‐sensitive cancer cells exhibit oxidative stress and DNA damage, while radiation‐resistant cancer cells exhibit strong antioxidant properties and DNA damage repair. Radiotherapy resistance is a major cause of recurrence and metastasis in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Hydrogen Peroxide in Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, 2012
The perception of the roles of H2O2 in living systems has come a long way, transcending from H2O2 being considered as (i) exclusively damaging; (ii) a necessary evil “unwanted but an inevitable product of aerobic metabolism”; (iii) important for specific biological processes that involve ROS aggressiveness, such as the battle of the innate immune ...

Novel metal peroxide nanoboxes restrain Clostridioides difficile infection beyond the bactericidal and sporicidal activity

open access: yesBioengineering & Translational Medicine, 2023
Clostridioides difficile spores are considered as the major source responsible for the development of C. difficile infection (CDI), which is associated with an increased risk of death in patients and has become an important issue in infection control of ...

Hydrophobicity causes anomalous migration of cystine/glutamate antiporter SLC7A11 in SDS‐PAGE with low acrylamide concentration

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...

Adenosine A3 receptor antagonists as anti‐tumor treatment in human prostate cancer: an in vitro study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The A3 adenosine receptors (A3ARs) are overexpressed in prostate cancer. AR 292 and AR 357, as A3AR antagonists, are capable of blocking proliferation, modulating the expression of drug transporter genes involved in chemoresistance, ferroptosis, and the hypoxia response, and inducing cell death.

The reducing role of hydrogen peroxide on the formation of gold nanostructures in aqueous microdroplets with dissolved tetrachloroaurate ions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
A recent article by Lee et al. in Nature Communications has reported an intriguing phenomenon that gold nanostructures, AuNSs, can be spontaneously formed in aqueous microdroplets with dissolved tetrachloroaurate ions. The authors suggested three possible electron donors for the reduction of AuCl4-, including the strong electric field at the ...
