Synthesis of spiroannulated and 3-arylated 1,2,4-trioxanes from mesitylol and methyl 4-hydroxytiglate by photooxygenation and peroxyacetalization

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2010
Cycloalkanones were utilized in the Lewis acid catalyzed peroxyacetalization of ß-hydroperoxy homoallylic alcohols (prepared by the ene reaction of the allylic alcohols mesitylol and methyl 4-hydroxytiglate, respectively, with singlet oxygen) to give ...

Benzoyl peroxide

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 1980
The mode of action of benzoyl peroxide in acne is three-fold, i.e. sebostatic, comedolytic and inhibitory to P. acnes in-vivo. Benzoyl peroxide is the topical treatment of choice in acne vulgaris. This agent is well tolerated by most patients. Primary irritant dermatitis can be avoided by less frequent application and the true incidence of contact ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Olive Mill Pomace Extract Loaded Ethylcellulose Microparticles as a Delivery System to Improve Olive Oils Oxidative Stability

open access: yesResources, 2023
The protective effect of olive mill pomace (OMP) loaded ethylcellulose microparticles as an alternative to synthetic antioxidants against the oxidation of olive oils was assessed. OMP extract was obtained by an optimized two-step solid-liquid extraction;

Peroxiredoxin Functions as a Peroxidase and a Regulator and Sensor of Local Peroxides*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2011
Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) contain an active site cysteine that is sensitive to oxidation by H2O2. Mammalian cells express six Prx isoforms that are localized to various cellular compartments.
