Cooperation of yeast peroxiredoxins Tsa1p and Tsa2p in the cellular defense against oxidative and nitrosative stress

open access: yes, 2002
Peroxiredoxins are a family of antioxidant enzymes conserved from bacteria to humans. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, there exist five peroxiredoxins, among which Tsa2p shares striking homology with the well described Tsa1p but has not been extensively ...

Self‐Amplifying Redox Cycle Triggers Ferroptosis/Cuproptosis Synergy for Enhanced Bacterial Eradication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 34, 19 June 2026.
This study designs a targeted nanocomposite (ct@HMCF‐Dex) that responds to acidic infection microenvironments, releasing components which amplify oxidative stress. It disrupts bacterial redox balance, chelates metals to sustain lipid peroxidation, and synergistically induces cuproptosis/ferroptosis‐like death.

The role of peroxiredoxins in the regulation of pro-survival mechanisms in human spermatozoa

open access: yes, 2018
Infertility affects 1 in 6 couples both in Canada and worldwide and in around half of these cases, male factors are to blame. Male factor infertility has been associated with oxidative stress, which can be caused either by an increase in the production ...

Selenium‐Based Nanoplatforms: An Emerging Theranostic Paradigm for Gynecological Cancers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 33, 15 June 2026.
This reivew summarizes Selenium as a multifunctional anticancer regulator in gynecological cancers. It reduces tumor risk, enhances therapeutic efficacy, and reduces treatment toxicity. Selenium also overcomes chemoraditherapy resistance, improving overall treatment outcomes. ABSTRACT Gynecological cancers present significant therapeutic challenges due

Upregulated PKM2 Protects Dopaminergic Neurons From Oxidative Damage Through Nrf2 Transactivation in an MPTP‐Induced Mouse Model of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
Oxidative stress induced by MPTP promotes hnRNP A1/A2–dependent alternative splicing toward PKM2 in dopaminergic neurons. Elevated PKM2 transactivates Nrf2, enhances antioxidant gene expression, and protects neurons from oxidative damage and degeneration.
