The effects of stocking density of eggs and larvae were studied related to the morphological deformities appearance, percentage of survival, and growth rate, in order to achieve the most suitable stocking density for eggs and larvae in incubators and rearing tanks. The egg stocking densities were 500, 700 and 900 g per incubator for great sturgeon, 500

Short communication: Amplification of microsatellites in the Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus)
2009Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) is a benthic species occurring primarily on sandy bottoms in the mid and southern Caspian Sea, especially along the shores of Iran. The Persian sturgeon in the Caspian Sea is anadromous, with at least eighteen groups that segregate spatially and temporally for spawning.

Comparative proteomics analysis of male and female Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) gonads
Animal Reproduction Science, 2009In sturgeon aquaculture, the fish are sexed by an invasive surgical examination of the gonads. Development of a non-invasive procedure for sexing fish based on a molecular method is of special interest. In the present study a proteomics approach has been utilized to analyze a differential protein expression between mature male and female Persian ...

Triiodothyronine reduces toxic effects of diazinon in Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) embryos
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Toxicology & Pharmacology, 2019Thyroid hormones (THs) play an important role in early stages development of fish species. Manual elevation of THs in the embryos improves viability and hatching success. However, the impacts of endocrine disrupting chemicals on THs-treated embryos are unclear.

Metal content in caviar of wild Persian sturgeon from the southern Caspian Sea
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2013Caviar (fish roe of sturgeon) may contain high levels of contaminants. An inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer and a direct mercury analyzer were used to assess the contents of four heavy metals (Hg, Se, Sn, and Ba) in caviar of wild Persian sturgeon sea foods. The levels of Hg ranged from 1.39 to 1.50 μg g(-1), Se from 0.90 to 1.10

The localization of Na+, K+‐ATPase (NKA) and the ultrastructural features of kidney were examined in larvae of the Persian sturgeon Acipenser persicus (L 31–41 mm total length and 182·3–417·3 mg). Investigations were conducted through light and electron microscopy and through immunofluorescence for NKA detection.

The effect of abrupt and 5-day gradual salinity transfers from freshwater (FW) to 11 ‰ Caspian Sea brackish water (BW) was investigated in juvenile Persian sturgeon Acipenser persicus with three different weight groups: 1-2 g (1.62 ± 0.27 g), 2-3 g (2.55 ± 0.41 g) and 3-5 g (4.28 ± 0.76 g).

Vitrification could provide a promising tool for the cryopreservation of fish embryos. To achieve successful cryopreservation, several parameters should be taken into account in the design of a vitrification protocol. In the present study, some relevant factors were investigated (choice of a proper vitrificant solutions and temperature for thawing ...

Study on Osmoregulation in Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus)
2018One of the most important factors to produce spawners & juveniles for marketable fish raising and conservation of stocks is to carefully understand the osmotic & ionic regulation system in fish blood serum and environment. For this purpose, during 1998.2000, 75 hatchery raised brood fishes and juveniles of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus), 1 & 2 ...
