Variability of Properties Characterizing Persistent Potential of Cholera Vibrio in Biofilm Communities

open access: yesПроблемы особо опасных инфекций, 2012
Represented are the results of studies on variability of properties characterizing persistent potential of V. cholerae in biofilm communities under the long-term cultivation in river water.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Potential role of hypoxia in maintaining lactation persistency of dairy cows

open access: yesAnimal Nutriomics
Mammary gland health plays a key role in maintaining lactation persistency. As a well-known factor involved in physiological processes, the role of oxygen levels in bovine mammary health and lactation persistency remains to be investigated.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Une remarque sur la permanence des systèmes spatialisés

open access: yesCybergeo, 1997
The concept of systems is clearly deeply rooted in ecological thinking. However, the importance of space in the interactions within a system is fairly new.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Challenges in Empirically Testing Memory Persistency Models

open access: yes
Memory persistency models provide the foundational rules for software engineers to develop applications that take advantage of non-volatile memory (NVM), dictating which (and when) writes to NVM are deemed persistent.

Study of individual lactation patterns of Iranian dairy buffaloes

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2014
The aims of the current study were 1) to investigate the effects of some environmental factors on lactation curve traits (LCTs) including initial milk yield (A), peak yield (PY), days to attain peak yield (PD), inclining- and declining slope of lactation
