Theorizing Graphic Embodiments: A Feminist Perspective

open access: yesHumanities
In response to the increasing politicization and polarization of discourses around gender, sexuality, and the body, feminist theorists like Judith Butler call for feminism to strive toward flexibility and responsivity. This essay lays out some of the theoretical considerations that inform studies of graphic embodiment—or studies of embodiment in ...

Autophagosome marker, LC3, is released extracellularly via several distinct pathways

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study establishes a novel HiBiT‐tagging system for ultrasensitive detection of LC3, revealing multiple pathways for its extracellular secretion. It demonstrates that LC3 is released via both autophagy‐dependent and ‐independent mechanisms, including a novel route for nonlipidated LC3‐I.

Blending Learning and Inference in Structured Prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we derive an efficient algorithm to learn the parameters of structured predictors in general graphical models. This algorithm blends the learning and inference tasks, which results in a significant speedup over traditional approaches, such ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Complementary wave solutions for the long-short wave resonance model via the extended trial equation method and the generalized Kudryashov method

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2018
In this paper the nonlinear long-short (LS) wave resonance model is analyzed through a new perspective. We obtain the classification of exact solutions by making use of the complete discrimination system for the trial equation method and through the ...

Get Beyond Limits: From Colloidal Tectonics Concept to the Engineering of Eco-Friendly Catalytic Systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2018
The interactions between two or more molecules or colloidal particles can be used to obtain a variety of self-assembled systems called supramolecules or supracolloids. There is a clear, but neglected, convergence between these two fields.

Interactive orbital proximity operations planning system [PDF]

open access: yes
An interactive, graphical proximity operations planning system was developed which allows on-site design of efficient, complex, multiburn maneuvers in the dynamic multispacecraft environment about the space station. Maneuvering takes place in, as well as

GRAPHIC NOVEL TRANSLATION: SEMIOTIC AND MULTIMODAL PERSPECTIVE

open access: yesAlfred Nobel University Journal of Philology, 2023
In this paper we have analysed a graphic novel “Maus. A survivor tale” by Art Spiegelman as well as some variants of its translations in the framework of theory of multimodal discourse analysis (ADM) (O`Halloran). The article focuses on analysing the corpus of investigation on its language and nonlanguage level. The aim of the research is to explain in

Decreased Serum 5‐HT: Clinical Correlates and Regulatory Role in NMJ of MG

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although 5‐Hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT) indirectly stimulates muscle contraction and participates in regulating Acetylcholine receptor (AChR) cluster homeostasis in cellular, animal, and clinical studies, evidence regarding its potential to modulate muscle contraction in myasthenia gravis (MG) remains limited.

MAKING PERSPECTIVE IMAGES USING GRAPHICS PROGRAMS.

open access: yes, 2022
This research paper meant to analyze several methods of creating perspective images in some useful graphics programs. Multi-perspective images are a useful way to visualize extended roughly planar scenes such as landscapes or city blocks. However, constructing effective multi-perspective images is something of an art.
