Reducing "Structure From Motion": a General Framework for Dynamic Vision - Part 1: Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The literature on recursive estimation of structure and motion from monocular image sequences comprises a large number of different models and estimation techniques.

Following a "Collapsing" Wavefunction

open access: yes, 1993
I study the quantum mechanics of a spin interacting with an ``apparatus''. Although the evolution of the whole system is unitary, the spin evolution is not.

Construction Project Delivery System Selection Framework: Professional Service Firms’ Perspective [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Architecture, 2016
There is a variety of PDSs (project delivery systems) in today's construction industry. This leads to confusion when it comes to selecting the most suitable PDS for a specific project. The wrong selection decision might lead eventually to reduced profit margins or perhaps financial losses to PSFs (professional service firms).

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

A Forward–Backward–Forward Algorithm for Quasi-Variational Inequalities in the Moving Set Case

open access: yesMathematics
This paper addresses the challenge of solving quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) by developing and analyzing a forward–backward–forward algorithm from a continuous and iterative perspective.

IT Project Management from a Systems Thinking Perspective

open access: yes, 2008
Purpose: We proposes a Systems Thinking approach to the study of IT project management and show how this approach helps project managers in controlling their projects. Systems Thinking is a holistic problem solving method in which system behaviour emerges from the interaction of system components. Design/methodology/approach: To illustrate our proposal,

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Pilot Design for Sparse Channel Estimation in Large-Scale MIMO-OFDM System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2016
The pilot design problem in large-scale multi-input-multioutput orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system is investigated from the perspective of compressed sensing (CS).

Designing by Geometry. Rankine's Theorems of Transformation of Structures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
William John Macquorn Rankine (1820-1872) was one of the main figures in establishing engineering science in the second half of the 19th. Century. His Manual of Applied Mechanics (1858) gathers most of his contributions to strength of materials and ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
