Recent Advances in Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting Enabled by Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review highlights the potential of 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) as tunable and porous photoactive catalysts for solar‐driven water splitting. It discusses COF design principles and emerging photoelectrocatalytic performance, with special emphasis on film fabrication and deposition strategies critical for integrating COFs into efficient ...

An Organic Carboxylate Host for Stable Sodium Metal Batteries

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
We present Na4PT, a π‐conjugated organic carboxylate that functions as a Na‐rich redox reservoir in sodium metal batteries. It enables high Coulombic efficiency, stable interfaces, and uniform, reversible Na deposition, demonstrating the potential of organic carboxylates for high‐energy‐density Na‐based energy storage.

indexGIXS: software for visualizing and interactive indexing of grazing‐incidence scattering data

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 3, Page 960-967, June 2026.
A program is described for visualizing grazing‐incidence scattering data and interactive indexing of the observed diffraction spots.Grazing‐incidence small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering are widely applied for the study of functional organic thin films, be it for the characterization of nanostructured morphologies in block copolymers, nanocomposites ...

Crown Ether‐Based Ion‐Selective Organic Semiconductors by Molecular Design

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 10, 27 May 2026.
Through molecular modifications, organic π‐conjugated materials can be designed to interact with cations of biological relevance. Such ion‐selective interactions are typically demonstrated by colorimetric or fluorometric responses owing to changes in, e.g., conjugation length or intermolecular interactions.
