Thermochromism of perylenes: Dynamics in aromatics

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2011
A thermal equilibrium between planar and skew perylene derivatives induces thermochromism and may modulate molecular recognition. Thus, the long-lasting discussion about the geometry of perylene could be solved in terms of this equilibrium. Extension to other aromatics and practical applications such as for non contact fluorescence thermometers are ...

Perylene and Perylene-Derivative Nano-Cocrystals: Preparation and Physicochemical Property

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2012
Organic nano-cocrystals of functional dyes of perylene and a perylene derivative were successfully prepared by the reprecipitation method. The particle sizes, optical properties, and powder X-ray diffraction patterns of nano-cocrystals were evaluated.

Highly Fluorescent Platinum(II) Organometallic Complexes of Perylene and Perylene Monoimide, with Pt σ-Bonded Directly to the Perylene Core

Inorganic Chemistry, 2010
3-Bromoperylene (BrPer) or N-(2,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)-9-bromo-perylene-3,4-dicarboximide (BrPMI) react with [Pt(PEt(3))(4)] to yield trans-[PtR(PEt(3))(2)Br] (R = Per, 1a; R = PMI, 1b). Neutral and cationic perylenyl complexes containing a Pt(PEt(3))X group have been prepared from 1a,b by substitution of the Br ligand by a variety of other ligands ...

“Helter‐Skelter‐Like” Perylene Polyisocyanopeptides

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2009
AbstractExciton migration! Spectroscopic analyses and extensive molecular dynamics studies revealed a well‐defined 41 helix in which the perylene molecules (see figure) form four “helter‐skelter‐like” overlapping pathways along which excitons and electrons can rapidly migrate.magnified imageWe report on a combined experimental and computational ...

Functionalized perylenes: origin of the enhanced electrical performances

Applied Physics A, 2009
In this letter we compare the transistor performances of two solution-processed perylene derivatives: N,N'-bis (n-octyl)- dicyanoperylene-3,4:9,10-bis(dicarboximide) (PDI8-CN(2)) and N,N'-1H,1H-perfluorobutyl dicyanoperylenediimide (PDIF-CN(2)). Perylene−Tetrapalladium Sandwich Complexes

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2003
Bis-perylene-tetrapalladium sandwich complexes are synthesized and structurally characterized. These are the first examples of bis-arene sandwich complexes having metal-metal bond chains. X-ray crystallographic analyses showed that the tetrapalladium chain is bound to perylene ligands at the C8 edge position.

On the spectroscopic analyses of Perylene-66

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2014
In the present work, a combined experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure and vibrational frequencies of Perylene-66 were reported. The FT-IR spectrum of Perylene-66 is recorded in the solid phase. The equilibrium geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, thermo-chemical parameters, total dipole moment and HOMO-LUMO energies are ...

Controllable Monobromination of Perylene Ring System: Synthesis of Bay-Functionalized Perylene Dyes

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
Practical synthesis of bay-monofunctionalized perylene dyes has been developed based on controllable NBS bromination of tetrabenzyl perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylate. The ability to perform the convenient and high-yielding synthesis highlights the potential utility of our multifunctional approach to access a diverse range of new perylene systems.

A perylene conductor with a gold cyanodithiocarbimate counterion: (Perylene)2Au(cdc)2

Synthetic Metals, 1993
Abstract The synthesis, electrocrystallisation and characterisation of (Perylene) 2 Au(cdc) 2 single crystals, where cdc=cyanodithiocarbimate, are reported. The electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power exhibit metallic character at room temperature, with typical values σ RT =150 S. cm −1 and S =35μV.K −1 , respectively.

The potassium metal reduction of perylene in tetrahydrofuran: evidence for the perylene dianion

Tetrahedron, 1986
Abstract Reduction of perylene with potassium metal in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature yields the dianion, as determined by potassium metal uptake, by 1H NMR of the anion solution, and by product analysis of a methyl iodide quench. There is no evidence for decomposition of the solvent, either to a butoxy fragment or to an ethyl-ene/enolate ...
