Characterisation of Salmonella choleraesuis by PFGE and ribotypig
Salmonella (S.) Choleraesuis var. Kunzendorf is the major cause of swine salmonellosis in Poland. Eleven XbaI macrorestriction profiles and 3 ribotypes were noted amongst 36 isolates tested. Index of discrimination reached 0.88. Two clonal lineages were distinguished.

ABSTRACT We tested if hyperoxic conditions can reduce the proportion of active myofibroblasts, which are assumed to be a major driver of head and neck radiation‐induced fibrosis, as measured by expression levels of pro‐fibrotic genes. Radiated, non‐cancerous soft tissue from the head and neck and skin/soft tissue from non‐radiated flap donor site were ...

Mortality in organic free-range chickens and molecular characterization of the involved pathogens [PDF]
Longitudinal investigations on causes of mortality were carried out at one organic layer farm with four flocks of Lohman Brown and Lohman White chickens producing table eggs. All flocks were housed separately.

Chromosomal integrity after UV irradiation requires FANCD2-mediated repair of double strand breaks [PDF]
Fanconi Anemia (FA) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hypersensitivity to inter-strand crosslinks (ICLs). FANCD2, a central factor of the FA pathway, is essential for the repair of double strand breaks (DSBs) generated during fork ...

Fecal non-aureus Staphylococci are a potential cause of bovine intramammary infection [PDF]
The presence of non-aureus staphylococci (NAS) in bovine rectal feces has recently been described. Similar to other mastitis causing pathogens, shedding of NAS in the environment could result in intramammary infection.

Review of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae as venereal pathogens in horses
Abstract Three bacteria extensively acknowledged as venereal pathogens with the potential to induce endometritis include Taylorella equigenitalis, the causative agent of contagious equine metritis (CEM), specific strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and certain capsule types of Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Characterisation of Pasteurella multocida isolated from rabbits in the Czech Republic
Twenty seven Pasteurella multocida rabbit isolates were characterised by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) generated by restriction endonuclease ApaI, and examined for the presence of capsule and fimbriae, and tested of haemolytic activity and ...

Genomic relatedness within five common Finnish Campylobacter jejuni pulsed-field gel electrophoresis genotypes studied by amplified fragment length polymorphism analysis, ribotyping and serotyping [PDF]
Thirty-five Finnish Campylobacter jejuni strains with five SmaI/SacII pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) genotypes selected among human and chicken isolates from 1997 and 1998 were used for comparison of their PFGE patterns, amplified fragment ...
