Novel Wide‐Spectrum Virucidal Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
POSTAN is a novel broad‐spectrum antiviral nanoparticle that combines safety with potent virucidal activity. Composed of biocompatible lipids, it mimics heparan sulfate proteoglycans and lipid rafts exploited by viruses, thereby dismantling viral envelopes and blocking replication.

Medical Gas Plasma Inactivates Adenoviruses via Capsid Oxidation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Oxidative modification of three adenoviral capsid proteins after gas plasma treatment. Schematic representation of the viral infection process, starting with the initial attachment of the virus via its fiber protein binding to the cellular receptors (CAR and/or CD46). In the secondary attachment step, the penton base binds to integrin structures on the

Ultraconserved bacteriophage genome sequence identified in 1300-year-old human palaeofaeces

open access: yesNature Communications
Bacteriophages are widely recognised as rapidly evolving biological entities. However, knowledge about ancient bacteriophages is limited. Here, we analyse DNA sequence datasets previously generated from ancient palaeofaeces and human gut-content samples,

Cas12Fold Accurately Predicts Cas12 Nuclease Structures to Enable Structure‐based Genome‐editing Engineering

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
Cas12Fold, a deep‐learning framework tailored to Cas12 nucleases, uses evolutionary signals and iterative structure‐based alignment to resolve conformational complexity. This method outperforms general models in predicting key domains and states, accurately modeling enzymes such as Casλ.

Elucidation of molecular function of phage protein responsible for optimization of host cell lysis

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Background Bacteriophages (or phages) replicate by utilizing bacterial resources and destroy their host cells at the end of the replication cycle. Phages employ multiple proteins to optimize host cell lysis, thereby maximizing the production of phage ...

Genetic engineering for SIT application: a fruit fly‐focused review

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Sterile insect technique (SIT) has become a key component of efficient pest control. Fruit fly pests from the Drosophilidae and Tephritidae families pose a substantial and overwhelmingly increasing threat to the agricultural industry, aggravated by climate change and globalization among other contributors.
