Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Aircraft Round-Trip Times Using Phase Type Distributions
One of the major issues facing commercial airlines is the time that it takes to board passengers. Further, most airlines wish to increase the number of trips that an aircraft can make between two or more cities.

Analysis on anti-wear mechanism of bionic non-smooth surface based on discrete phase model
In order to study the lubrication and anti-wear mechanism of the pit-type bionic non-smooth surface used in the low-speed and high-torque seawater hydraulic motor valve plate pair, the discrete phase models of the four pits are simulated under different ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Markov Chain Monte Carlo Procedure for Efficient Bayesian Inference on the Phase-Type Aging Model
The phase-type aging model (PTAM) belongs to a class of Coxian-type Markovian models that can provide a quantitative description of well-known aging characteristics that are part of a genetically determined, progressive, and irreversible process.

Numerical Study of Solid–liquid Two-phase Flows and Erosion in a Y-type Slurry Valve with Different Seat Structures [PDF]
As a common industrial valve solution in slurry pipeline systems, Y-type slurry valves must be designed with properly shaped valve seat sealing rings to alleviate particle erosion and keep the valve operating in optimal condition.
