Mineralogy and Phase Composition

1974
Names and formulas of 24 common meteoritic minerals are listed in Table V-1. Their crystal structures and meteoritic occurrences are summarized by Keil (1969a), who also summarizes information about the less common minerals. Mason (1967d; 1972) gives brief general reviews of the mineralogy of meteorites, and Van Schmus (1969a) a somewhat more detailed ...

Tribology of MAX phases and their composites

2021
Currently there is a need for triboactive materials for high-speed turbomachinery applications in industry, which possess: (a) adequate mechanical strength, both at room and elevated temperatures and, (b) low wear rates, WRs, and low friction coefficients, [mu], over a wide temperature range.

Phase Composition of Commercial "Ammonium Carbonate"

Science, 1963
A unique crystalline phase was the sole constituent in newly opened containers of commercial reagent-grade "ammonium carbonate." The chemical composition, optical constants, x-ray powder diffraction pattern, infrared absorption spectrum, and density indicate a double salt, ammonium bicarbonate-carbamate (NH 4 HCO

GEOMETRIC PHASE OF COMPOSITE SYSTEMS IN DEPHASING

Modern Physics Letters B, 2010
Based on an exactly-solvable spin-boson model, the geometric phase (GP) of a system of two qubits collectively coupled to a quantum bath is investigated. In this scenario, the decomposition of GP into the sum of GP of the subsystem should be forbidden.

Phase assemblage of composite cements

Cement and Concrete Research, 2017
Abstract The phase assemblage of binary Portland cements with 45 wt% replacement by calcareous fly ash and slag has been investigated by experiment, mass balance and thermodynamic simulations. The input for these calculations was based on clinker reaction measured by XRD-Rietveld refinement, on SCM reaction measured by SEM-EDS full element mapping ...

Stripe-Nematic Phase of Composite Fermions

Physical Review Letters
Electronic stripe-nematic phases are fascinating, strongly correlated states characterized by spontaneous rotational symmetry breaking. In the quantum Hall regime, such phases typically emerge at half-filled, high-orbital-index (N≥2) Landau levels (LLs) where the short-range Coulomb interaction is softened by the nodes of electron wave functions.

Composite Resins with a Condensable Inorganic Phase

Journal of Dental Research, 1981
Open porous particles consisting of a sintered three-dimensional glass network were impregnated with BIS-GMA-based liquid resins. Formulations containing highly viscous resins allowed the particles to be condensed by a packing technique similar to that used for dental amalgam.

Composites based on mechanosynthesized G-phases Ti6Co16Si7 and Ti6Ni16Si7: phase composition and properties

Mechanical alloying of elemental powders in Ti-M-Si (M = Co, Ni) systems and subsequent thermal treatment were applied to synthesize new Ti6Co16Si7- and Ti6Ni16Si7- based composites (≈90 vol.%). These phases are formed above 545°C and 459°C for cobalt- and nickel-containing systems, respectively, and belong to a family of G-phases. Mechanically alloyed
