Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Experimental Study of Mixed Gas Hydrates from Gas Feed Containing CH4, CO2 and N2: Phase Equilibrium in the Presence of Excess Water and Gas Exchange

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
This article presents gas hydrate experimental measurements for mixtures containing methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2) with the aim to better understand the impact of water (H2O) on the phase equilibrium.

The thermodynamics of phase equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 1961
Abstract Thermodynamics is usually subdivided into a theory dealing with equilibrium and into one concerned with irreversible processes. In the present paper this subdibvision is carried further and the Gibbsian thermodynamics of phase equilibrium is distinguished from the thermodynamics of Clausius and Kelvin.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

A phase of liposomes with entangled tubular vesicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
An equilibrium phase belonging to the family of bilayer liposomes in ternary mixtures of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC), water, and geraniol (a biological alcohol derived from oil-soluble vitamins that acts as a cosurfactant) has been identified ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Measurement of phase equilibrium characteristics and optimization of state equation for N2-CO2 binary system

open access: yesYou-qi chuyun
Objective The presence of impurities impacts the phase equilibrium of CO2, potentially compromising the safety of CO2 pipeline transmission. As efforts intensify towards advancing the application of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS ...

Reactive Extraction of Lactic Acid, Formic Acid and Acetic Acid from Aqueous Solutions with Tri-n-octylamine/1-Octanol/n-Undecane

open access: yesChemEngineering, 2019
The present work develops the basics for the isolation of lactic acid, acetic acid and formic acid from a single as well as a mixed feed stream, as is present, for example, in fermentation broth for lactic acid production.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

The Role of Three-Body Interactions on the Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Properties of Fluids from Molecular Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of this work is to use molecular simulation to investigate the role of three-body interatomic potentials in noble gas systems for two distinct phenomena: phase equilibria and shear flow.
