Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Compact, wideband, low-dispersion, metamaterial-based MEMS phase shifters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Novel phase shifters were designed by using only two MEMS switches to control a metamaterial-based slow-wave structure in each unit cell. A unit cell with an area smaller than 1 mm2 exhibited a phase shift of 54±15°, an insertion loss of less than 0.9 ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Characteristics of Millimeter-wave Semiconductor Phase shifters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Interest in phased array technology, well suited for tracking satellites, has grown in recent years. However, electronically steered arrays are expensive compared to reflector antennas and an important critical issue with phased arrays is the size and ...

Multichannel vector sum phase shifter

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2006
A novel multichannel vector sum phase shifter that is suitable for phased array antenna applications is demonstrated. Each channel is implemented using a distinct optical wavelength. Selective control of each channel is performed using an acousto-optic polarization coupler.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Compact linear metamaterial phase shifters for broadband applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A compact one-dimensional fixed phase shifter is presented in this thesis. The proposed phase shifter comprises metamaterial unit cells that consist of a host transmission line loaded with lumped-element capacitors and inductors, arranged in a dual high ...
