Can a false vacuum bubble remove the singularity inside a black hole?
We investigate a regular black hole model with a de Sitter-like core at its center. This type of a black hole model with a false vacuum core was introduced with the hope of singularity-resolution and is a common feature shared by many regular black holes.

First order phase transition with a logarithmic singularity in a model with absorbing states
Recently, Lipowski [cond-mat/0002378] investigated a stochastic lattice model which exhibits a discontinuous transition from an active phase into infinitely many absorbing states.

Berry's Phase for Standing Wave Near Graphene Edge
Standing waves near the zigzag and armchair edges, and their Berry's phases are investigated. It is suggested that the Berry's phase for the standing wave near the zigzag edge is trivial, while that near the armchair edge is non-trivial.

Asymptotic safety in the sine-Gordon model [PDF]
In the framework of the functional renormalization group method it is shown that the phase structure of the 2-dimensional sine-Gordon model possesses a nontrivial UV fixed point which makes the model asymptotically safe.

Spin angular momentum density in the tight focus of a light field with phase and polarization singularities [PDF]
For a light field with both phase and polarization singularities at its center, expressions are obtained that describe the distribution of the spin angular momentum (SAM) density in the sharp focal spot of an aplanatic system.

Rare region effects at classical, quantum, and non-equilibrium phase transitions
Rare regions, i.e., rare large spatial disorder fluctuations, can dramatically change the properties of a phase transition in a quenched disordered system.

Cosmology With Negative Potentials [PDF]
We investigate cosmological evolution in models where the effective potential V(\phi) may become negative for some values of the field \phi. Phase portraits of such theories in space of variables (\phi,\dot\phi,H) have several qualitatively new features ...

The zonal satellite problem - II: Near-escape flow [PDF]
The study of the zonal satellite problem is continued by tackling the situation r→∞. New equations of motion (for which the infinite distance is a singularity) and the corresponding first integrals of energy and angular momentum are set up.

The influence of long-range Coulomb interactions on the properties of one-dimensional (1D) strongly correlated electron systems in vicinity of the metal-insulator phase transition is considered.
