Physical aspects of naked singularity explosion - How does a naked singularity explode? -- [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The behaviors of quantum stress tensor for the scalar field on the classical background of spherical dust collapse is studied. In the previous works diverging flux of quantum radiation was predicted.

Mapping of phase singularities with spiral phase contrast microscopy

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
In spiral phase contrast (SPC) microscopy the edge-enhancement is typically independent of the helicity of the phase vortex filter. Here we show that for layered specimens containing screw-dislocations, as are e.g. present in mica or some crystallized organic substances, the intensity distribution in the filtered image acquires a dependence on the ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Emergence of multiverse in third quantized varying constants cosmologies

open access: yes, 2019
Although the standard cosmological model explains most of the observed phenomena it still struggles with the problem of initial singularity. An interesting scenario in which the problem of the initial singularity is somehow circumvented was proposed in ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Characteristics of geological evolution based on the multifractal singularity theory: A case study of Heyu granite and Mesozoic tectonics

open access: yesOpen Geosciences
Tectonic movement and magmatic activity are complex geological processes resulting from the interaction of multiple factors. These processes are often characterized by local singularities with nonlinear characteristics.

The evolution of topological singularities between real- and complex-frequency domains and the engineering of photonic bands for Hermitian and non-Hermitian photonic crystals

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Singularity annihilation, generation, and evolving (SAGE) lead to the topological phase transition (TPT) in electronic, photonic and acoustic systems. Traditionally the singularity study of Hermitian systems is only focused on the real frequency domain ...

Gravitational Collapse of a Homogeneous Scalar Field in Deformed Phase Space

open access: yes, 2013
We study the gravitational collapse of a homogeneous scalar field, minimally coupled to gravity, in the presence of a particular type of dynamical deformation between the canonical momenta of the scale factor and of the scalar field.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
