Chain-like beams with phase singularity
The investigation of the first order Bessel beam diffraction on a binary amplitude diffraction mask with two open zones has been performed. It has been shown by computer modeling and experimentally that the structure of the beam intensity distribution ...

This work aimed at the detection of rotor centers within the atrial cavity during atrial fibrillation on the basis of phase singularities. A voxel based method was established which employs the Hilbert transform and the phase of unipolar electrograms ...

We analyze the diffraction of the laser beam with a vortex phase singularity on the basis of the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD). It is shown that, when incident beam has phase singularity, increase of the micro-axicon radius leads to ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Quantum escape of sudden future singularity
We consider finite-time, future (sudden or Big Rip type) singularities which may occur even when strong energy condition is not violated but equation of state parameter is time-dependent. Recently, example of such singularity has been presented by Barrow,

Susceptibility singularities at first-order phase transitions
Problems associated with analyticity of thermodynamic functions close to first-order phase transitions are briefly reviewed. The bubble model for correlation functions is then applied to planar Ising-like models at subcritical temperatures (T<Tc) with a bulk magnetic field h. The fluctuation sum is used to calculate the susceptibility χ(h) from the

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
