Phase retrieval: Stability and recovery guarantees

open access: yesApplied and Computational Harmonic Analysis, 2014
We consider stability and uniqueness in real phase retrieval problems over general input sets. Specifically, we assume the data consists of noisy quadratic measurements of an unknown input x in R^n that lies in a general set T and study conditions under which x can be stably recovered from the measurements. In the noise-free setting we derive a general

Stability of Phase-modulated Quantum Key Distribution System

open access: yes, 2004
Phase drift and random fluctuation of interference visibility in double unbalanced M-Z QKD system are observed and distinguished. It has been found that the interference visibilities are influenced deeply by the disturbance of transmission fiber.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Morphology and Structural Stability of Bismuth-Gadolinium Co-Doped Ceria Electrolyte Nanopowders

open access: yesInorganics, 2019
The reduction of the sintering temperature of doped ceria ceramics remains an open challenge for their real exploitation as electrolytes for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFCs) at the industrial level. In this work, we have used Bi (

A Phase Front Instability in Periodically Forced Oscillatory Systems

open access: yes, 1998
Multiplicity of phase states within frequency locked bands in periodically forced oscillatory systems may give rise to front structures separating states with different phases. A new front instability is found within bands where $\omega_{forcing}/\omega_{

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Stability Property and Phase Space

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 1995
The stability concepts for the functional differential equations with infinite delay depend on the metrics of the phase spaces where the right- hand sides of the equations are defined. The paper clarifies the relationship between certain metrics and gives a unified aspect on the stability concepts by allowing more flexibility in the choice of the phase

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Predicting Phase Stability at Interfaces

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters
We present the RAFFLE methodology for structural prediction of the interface between two materials and demonstrate its effectiveness by applying it to MgO encapsulated by two layers of graphene. To address the challenge of interface structure prediction, our methodology combines physical insights derived from morphological features observed in related ...

Phase-Induced (In)-Stability in Coupled Parametric Oscillators

open access: yes, 2000
We report results on a model of two coupled oscillators that undergo periodic parametric modulations with a phase difference $\theta$. Being to a large extent analytically solvable, the model reveals a rich $\theta$ dependence of the regions of ...
