Phenol in Herpes [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1910
To the Editor:— For the past four years I have treated herpes with an application of a 95 per cent, solution of phenol. As soon as the skin begins to turn white I neutralize the phenol effect with alcohol. In many cases one application suffices; in no case is it necessary to make more than three applications.

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Initiation of polymerization by tetrabutylammonium p-lithophenoxide p-lithiophenoxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Compound is an efficient initiator capable of producing a polymer with a phenol group at the initiating end of the chain. Derivative may be used as a polymerization initiator to produce large quantities of phenol-terminated ...

A comparison of electrochemical degradation of phenol on boron doped diamond and lead dioxide anodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This work compares two electrode materials used to mineralize phenol contained in waste waters. Two disks covered with either boron doped diamond (BDD) or PbO2 were used as anodes in a one compartment flow cell under the same hydrodynamic conditions ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

Cloud point extraction of phenol and benzyl alcohol from aqueous stream [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Two-aqueous phase extraction of phenol and benzyl alcohol as a solute from their aqueous solutions was investigated using polyethoxylated alcohols (CiEj) as a biodegradable non-ionic surfactant.

PHENOL COEFFICIENTS

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Public Health, 1921
The author states that a phenol coefficient indicates relative germicidal efficiency under laboratory conditions only, and has no practical value. Users of disinfectants ordinarily “follow directions,” and employ the dilutions recommended by the manufacturers.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and DFT studies of 2-(2,3-dihydro-1H-perimidin-2-yl)phenol

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2020
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C17H14N2O, contains two independent molecules each consisting of perimidine and phenol units. The tricyclic perimidine units contain naphthalene ring systems and non-planar C4N2 rings adopting envelope ...
