Phenoxazinone synthase functional mimic activity of mixed-ligand copper(II) complexes of L-proline and diimine ligands conjugated with chitosanPhenoxazinone synthase functional mimic activity of mixed-ligand copper(II) complexes of L-proline and diimine ligands conjugated with chitosan [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Phenoxazinone synthase (PHS) is a copper-containing bacterial enzyme that is involved in vital biological oxidation processes. Mimicking these enzymatic functions using copper complexes provides valuable insights and potential applications in green ...

Nucleotide sequence, transcriptional analysis, and glucose regulation of the phenoxazinone synthase gene (phsA) from Streptomyces antibioticus. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Bacteriol, 1995
The nucleotide sequence of a 2.3-kb SphI fragment containing the structural gene (phsA) for phenoxazinone synthase (PHS) of Streptomyces antibioticus was determined. The sequence was found to contain an open reading frame (ORF) with a G+C content of 71.5% oriented in the direction of transcription that was confirmed by primer extension. The ORF encodes

Regulation of secondary metabolite biosynthesis: catabolite repression of phenoxazinone synthase and actinomycin formation by glucose. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Bacteriol, 1972
Synthesis of the secondary metabolite, actinomycin, and the enzyme, phenoxazinone synthase, involved in the biosynthesis of the antibiotic, were shown to be under severe catabolite repression by glucose. Of a variety of hexoses and carbon compounds examined, glucose, and to a lesser extent, mannose, proved to be the most repressive for enzyme synthesis.

High phenoxazinone synthase activity of two mononuclear cis-dichloro cobalt(ii) complexes with a rigid pyridyl scaffold

open access: yes, 2022
Phenoxazinone synthase (PHS) is a pentanuclear copper enzyme studied for the last two decades, and though both manganese and copper complexes have been explored extensively, there are only a handful of reports on cobalt mononuclear moieties.

Mineral composition of Aegle marmelos (L.) corrĂȘa ash: Exploration of its ability to mimic the function of different metalloenzymes

open access: yesChemistry of Inorganic Materials
The motivation to find functional models of different metalloenzymes comes from their potential to develop better catalysts inspired by nature. Generally, metalloenzymes can activate aerial dioxygen due to the metal ions in it.

Design, synthesis, structural, spectral, and redox properties and phenoxazinone synthase activity of tripodal pentacoordinate Mn(ii) complexes with impressive turnover numbers

open access: yes, 2021
Catechol oxidase (CO) and phenoxazinone synthase (PHS) are two enzymes of immense significance due to their capability to oxidize catechols and o-aminophenols to o-quinones and phenoxazinones, respectively.

Activation of phenoxazinone synthase expression in Streptomyces lividans: characterization of the activator fragment from Streptomyces antibioticus [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1994
We have isolated an active 719 bp fragment from the 4.3 kb region of the genome of Streptomyces antibioticus that activates a silent phenoxazinone synthase (PHS) gene in Streptomyces lividans. Sequencing of the 719 bp fragment revealed several potential open reading frames (ORFs); however, the distribution of G + C in these putative ORFs was ...
