The R2R3MYB VvMYBPA1 from grape reprograms the phenylpropanoid pathway in tobacco flowers

Planta, 2017
This work shows that, in tobacco, the ectopic expression of VvMYBPA1 , a grape regulator of proanthocyanidin biosynthesis, up- or down-regulates different branches of the phenylproanoid pathway, in a structure-specific fashion. Proanthocyanidins are flavonoids of paramount importance for animal and human diet.

Evidence for enzyme complexes in the phenylpropanoid and flavonoid pathways

Physiologia Plantarum, 1999
A growing body of evidence indicates that phenylpropanoid and flavonoid metabolism is catalyzed, not by free‐floating ‘soluble’ enzymes, but via one or more membrane‐associated multienzyme complexes. This type of macromolecular organization has important implications for the overall efficiency, specificity, and regulation of these pathways.

Biochemical and Molecular Regulation of Phenylpropanoids Pathway Under Abiotic Stresses

2019
Phenylpropanoids have an important role in plant adaptation in different environmental conditions. Abiotic stresses usually increase the phenylpropanoids pathway with increase of phenolics, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and lignin. These compounds can protect plants against diseases or pests.

Understanding the phenylpropanoid pathway for agronomical and nutritional improvement of mungbean

The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology, 2017
ABSTRACTThe phenylpropanoid pathway is an important diversified secondary or specialised metabolic route. It gives rise to various metabolites that regulate plant growth, metabolism, and plant–environment interactions. Genetic manipulations of the phenylpropanoid pathway have even improved the agronomy and nutritional status of plants.

Effect of sodium nitroprusside treatment on shikimate and phenylpropanoid pathways of apple fruit

Food Chemistry, 2019
Blue mould caused by Penicillium expansum is one of the important diseases of apple fruit during storage. Phenylpropanoid pathway is an important induction mechanism that can utilize downstream metabolites of shikimate pathway to synthesize a series of secondary metabolites. Apple fruit (cv.

Re-routing the phenylpropanoid pathway and its implications on plant growth

2020
The phenylpropanoid pathway gives rise to a wide variety of specialized metabolites, but the majority of carbon flux going through this pathway is directed towards the synthesis of the lignin monomers: p-coumaryl alcohol, coniferyl alcohol and sinapyl alcohol.
