A PheWAS approach in studying HLA-DRB1*1501 [PDF]

open access: yesGenes and Immunity, 2013
HLA-DRB1 codes for a major histocompatibility complex class II cell surface receptor. Genetic variants in and around this gene have been linked to numerous autoimmune diseases. Most notably, an association between HLA-DRB1*1501 haplotype and multiple sclerosis (MS) has been defined.

Mendelian randomization case-control PheWAS in UK Biobank shows evidence of causality for smoking intensity in 28 distinct clinical conditions

open access: yesEClinicalMedicine, 2020
Background Smoking is one of the greatest threats to public health worldwide. We integrated phenome-wide association study (PheWAS) and Mendelian randomization (MR) approaches to explore causal effects of genetically predicted smoking intensity across ...

Systematic analysis of genes and diseases using PheWAS-Associated networks

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 2019
Several scientific sources have reported different causes of various diseases. One of these factors is genetic variation. Natural selection, molecular evolution and susceptibility to external conditions are the main causes of genetic variations. Phenome-Wide Association Studies (PheWAS) can emphasize the associations of genetic variations and diseases.

Trophic Status of Lake Phewa and Kulekhani Reservoir, Nepal

Asian Journal of Water, Environment and Pollution, 2021
Eutrophication is one of the growing environmental concerns and is affecting and compromising freshwater bodies across the world making the trophic status assessment of water bodies crucial for their restoration and sustainable use. This paper describes the trophic status of Lake Phewa and Kulekhani Reservoir from Nepal.

Mercury Concentrations in Commercial Fish Species of Lake Phewa, Nepal

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2013
Mercury (Hg) concentrations in four commercial fish species (Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus, Spiny Eel Mastacembelus armatus, African catfish Clarias gariepinus, and Sahar Tor putitora), were investigated in Lake Phewa, Nepal. Mean values of total mercury (THg mg kg(-1), ww) in these fishes were 0.02, 0.07, 0.05, and 0.12 respectively.

Novel Genes Associated with Atrial Fibrillation and the Predictive Models for AF Incorporating Polygenic Risk Scores and PheWAS-Derived Risk Factors.

Canadian Journal of Cardiology
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common atrial arrhythmia, presents varied clinical manifestations. Despite the identification of genetic loci associated with AF, particularly in specific populations, research within Asian ethnicities ...

A high-resolution PheWAS approach to alcohol-related polygenic risk scores reveals mechanistic influences of alcohol reinforcing value and drinking motives.

Alcohol and Alcoholism
AIMS This study uses a high-resolution phenome-wide approach to evaluate the motivational mechanisms of polygenic risk scores (PRSs) that have been robustly associated with coarse alcohol phenotypes in large-scale studies.

Seasonality and Fecundity of Daphnia Lumholtzi Sars in Lake Phewa, Nepal

Hydrobiologia, 1979
Monthly sampling of zooplankton in Lake Phewa, Nepal revealed 18 species of zooplankton excluding protozoans. The seasonality and fecundity of the largest common cladoceran Daphnia lumholtzi Sars was studied. Two distinct peaks of abundance were noted. No active stages were found during May and June. Egg ratio varied from zero to 0.88 in mature females.

GIS modelling of slope stability in Phewa Tal watershed, Nepal

Geomorphology, 1998
Abstract Hazards are an inherent but dangerous and costly element of mountainous environments. Conventional maps of mountain hazards provide useful inventories of hazardous sites but provide little insight into the operation of the hazards. Furthermore, this approach tends to rely heavily on subjective interpretation of the landscape, which means ...
