Phosphatidylserine in Diabetes Research

Molecular Pharmaceutics, 2022
Phospholipids are lipids that constitute the basic structure of cell membranes. In-depth research has shown that in addition to supporting cell structures, phospholipids participate in multiple cellular processes, including promoting cell signal transduction, guiding protein translocation, activating enzymatic activity, and eliminating dysfunctional ...

Preparation of Phosphatidylserine

Nature, 1963
SEVERAL methods for the preparation1,2 or quantitative isolation3 of phosphatidylserine are now in existence. An investigation of some of the factors involved in the chromatography of phospholipids4,5 revealed the role of H+ ion exchange in the conversion of the salt form to the acidic form of phosphatidylserine on a silicic acid column.

Profiling of phospholipid molecular species in human breast milk of Chinese mothers and comprehensive analysis of phospholipidomic characteristics at different lactation stages.

Food Chemistry, 2021
Phospholipids are critical for milk digestion and infant development. But the profile of phospholipid molecular species in human milk and its dynamic changes during the lactation period have never been reported.

Phosphatidylserine and the human brain

Nutrition, 2015
The aim of this study was to assess the roles and importance of phosphatidylserine (PS), an endogenous phospholipid and dietary nutrient, in human brain biochemistry, physiology, and function.A scientific literature search was conducted on MEDLINE for relevant articles regarding PS and the human brain published before June 2014. Proteomic and lipidomic analyses reveal saturated fatty acids, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylserine, and associated proteins contributing to intramuscular fat deposition.

Journal of Proteomics, 2021
Intramuscular fat (IMF) content is an important factor in porcine meat quality. Previous studies have screened multiple candidate genes related to IMF deposition, but the lipids that affect IMF deposition and their lipid-protein network remain unknown ...

Induction of Apoptosis by Phosphatidylserine

Journal of Biochemistry, 1998
Treatment of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells with phosphatidylserine (PS) caused cell death in a dose-dependent manner. Other phospholipids, such as phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidic acid, had no effect on cell viability. The cells incubated with PS became round and underwent a dramatic reduction of
