Oral phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors and sperm functions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Impotence Research, 2008
This review aims to elucidate the possible effects of phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors on sperm functions. PDEs hydrolyze cyclic nucleotides, and together with adenylyl and guanylyl cyclase, which catalyze the formation of cAMP and cGMP, regulate the levels of these second messengers in cells.

Exercise‐specific plasma proteomic signatures in racehorses: Candidates for training adaptation and peak load monitoring

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Racehorses undergo profound physiological changes with training and competition, but current biomarkers inadequately capture the complex molecular dynamics of exercise. This study aimed to identify novel plasma biomarkers of training adaptation and peak load using high‐throughput proteomics.

Key Features for Designing Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]"Phosphodiesterase superfamily is the key regulator of 3′,5′-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) decomposition in human body. Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, sildenafil, vardenafil and tadalafil, are well known oral treatment for ...

Donkwa Enriched With Goron‐Tula (Azanza garckeana) Modulates Sexual Behavior and Activity of Enzymes Linked With Erectile Dysfunction in High‐Fat Diets/ Streptozotocin‐Induced (STZ/HFD) Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
(A) Mount number, (B) mount latency, (C) intromission number, and (D) intromission latency are the parameters of sexual behavior. Met = metformin. D100 = 100 Donkwa. D90G10 = 90% Donkwa + 10% Goron‐Tula. D85G15 = 85% Donkwa + 15% Goron‐Tula. D80G20 = 80% Donkwa + 20% Goron‐Tula. The mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM) expressed the results. *Values

Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors and nitrergic transmission - from zaprinast to sildenafil

open access: yes, 2001
Phosphodiesterase 5 terminates the cellular actions of the second messenger molecule cyclic GMP; inhibitors of phosphodiesterase 5 will therefore increase and prolong the actions of endogenous substances that signal via the cyclic GMP pathway, including ...

Epigenetic Dysregulation of Somatostatin Receptors (SSTR) 1–5 and Therapeutic Implications in Neuroendocrine and Non‐Neuroendocrine Malignancies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Somatostatin receptors (SSTR) mediate the antiproliferative, antisecretory, and proapoptotic effects of somatostatin and its synthetic analogs. Their surface expression on neuroendocrine tumor (NET) cells is required for somatostatin analog therapy and radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT).
