Sentence Specified Dynamic Video Thumbnail Generation [PDF]

open access: yesACM Multimedia 2019, 2019
With the tremendous growth of videos over the Internet, video thumbnails, providing video content previews, are becoming increasingly crucial to influencing users' online searching experiences. Conventional video thumbnails are generated once purely based on the visual characteristics of videos, and then displayed as requested.

Mobility of Taxol in Microtubule Bundles [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys. J. 2003 84: 3959-3967, 2003
Mobility of taxol inside microtubules was investigated using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) on flow-aligned bundles. Bundles were made of microtubules with either GMPCPP or GTP at the exchangeable site on the tubulin dimer. Recovery times were sensitive to bundle thickness and packing, indicating that taxol molecules are able to move

Vanadate inhibits expression of the gene for phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) in rat hepatoma cells.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1990
Vanadate, at concentrations between 0.5 and 2 mM, rapidly decreased the basal level of P-enolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) (EC 4.1.1.32) mRNA and blocked the dibutyryl cyclic AMP (Bt2cAMP)-induced increase in enzyme mRNA in both FTO-2B and H4IIE rat hepatoma cells.

Non-equilibrium self-assembly of a filament coupled to ATP/GTP hydrolysis [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys. J., 96, 2146 (2009), 2008
We study the stochastic dynamics of growth and shrinkage of single actin filaments or microtubules taking into account insertion, removal, and ATP/GTP hydrolysis of subunits. The resulting phase diagram contains three different phases: a rapidly growing phase, an intermediate phase and a bound phase. We analyze all these phases, with an emphasis on the

Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase Assayed at Physiological Concentrations of Metal Ions Has a High Affinity for CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The effect of Mn2+/Mg2+ concentration on the activity of intact, homogeneous phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) from leaves of the C4 grass, Guinea grass (Panicum maximum), have been investigated.

FAHD1 and mitochondrial metabolism: a decade of pioneering discoveries

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This paper reviews a decade of research on FAHD1, an important yet underappreciated enzyme in mitochondrial metabolism. FAHD1 plays a crucial role in energy production, oxidative stress regulation, and processes related to aging and overall health.

c.A2456C-substitution in Pck1 changes the enzyme kinetic and functional properties modifying fat distribution in pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cytosolic phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase, PCK1, is one of the main regulatory enzymes of gluconeogenesis and glyceroneogenesis. The substitution of a single amino acid (Met139Leu) in PCK1 as a consequence of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), c ...

The Role of the CCAAT/Enhancer-Binding Protein in the Transcriptional Regulation of the Gene for Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxykinase (GTP) [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1990
Previous studies have identified a region in the promoter of the gene for phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) (PEPCK) (positions -460 to +73) containing the regulatory elements which respond to cyclic AMP, glucocorticoids, and insulin and confer the tissue- and developmental stage-specific properties to the gene.

Aluminum Fluorides as Noncovalent Lewis Acids in Proteins: The Case of Phosphoryl Transfer Enzymes

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 90, Issue 1, January 2025.
The abundance, directionality and energetic features of O ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ Al Triel Bonds in biological systems have been studied herein combining a search in the PDB (Protein Data Bank) with Quantum Mechanics calculations at the PBE0‐D3/def2‐TZVPD level of theory. Results indicate the noncovalent and attractive nature of the interaction, being important to fully
