Distinct Roles of Myeloid‐ and Hepatocyte‐PLA2G6 Deletion in Mice With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Polymorphisms of group VIA calcium‐independent phospholipase A2 (iPLA2β or PLA2G6) are associated with Type‐2 diabetes, blood lipids and inflammation. Global deficiency in iPLA2β‐null mice elicited protection against hepatic steatosis but not hepatic inflammation after high‐fat diet (HFD) feeding.

Maternal cardiometabolic dysfunction and fetal sex‐specific alterations to uterine vascular reactivity in an ovine model of obesity during pregnancy

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 12, Page 5011-5030, 15 June 2026.
Abstract figure legend We developed a novel ovine model of diet‐induced maternal obesity, where ewes were fed a control or obesogenic diet for 60 days pre‐pregnancy and throughout gestation. Pregnant ewes were surgically instrumented to assess maternal cardiovascular function near term.

Partial body mass regain attenuates lipid utilization and alters the hepatic lipidome linked to HDL dysfunction during metabolic syndrome in male rats

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 12, June 2026.
Abstract Increases in body mass are associated with the development of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Caloric restriction (CR) is the primary non‐pharmacological defense against MASLD; however, poor CR maintenance induces partial body mass regain (PR), leading to MASLD progression.
