Platelet activation begins with the binding of an agonist to the cell surface, leading to aggregation, secretion and clot formation. The thromboxane A2 (TxA2 ) formed from arachidonic acid (AA, ω-6) serves as an important intracellular mediator in platelet function (1–5).
