Phospholipases A and Lysophospholipases in protozoan parasites. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Cell, 2023
Phospholipases (PLs) and Lysophospholipases (LysoPLs) are a diverse group of esterases responsible for phospholipid or lysophospholipid hydrolysis. They are involved in several biological processes, including lipid catabolism, modulation of the immune ...

Search for and functional annotation of multi-domain PLA2 family proteins in flatworms.

open access: yesVavilovskii Zhurnal Genet Selektsii
The phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is a superfamily of hydrolases that catalyze the hydrolysis of phospholipids and play a key role in many molecular processes in the cells and the organism as a whole.

Molecular effects of clinically relevant chemotherapeutic agents on choline phospholipid metabolism in triple negative breast cancer cells. [PDF]

open access: yesTransl Oncol
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most lethal breast cancer subtype, leading to poor patient outcomes despite aggressive treatment with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. There are currently no clinical tests available which measure early on

Recent Advances in the Cellular and Developmental Biology of Phospholipases in Plants

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Phospholipases (PLs) are lipid-hydrolyzing enzymes known to have diverse signaling roles during plant abiotic and biotic stress responses. They catalyze lipid remodeling, which is required to generate rapid responses of plants to environmental cues ...

Post-heparin phospholipase

open access: hybridJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Egg phosphatidyl ethanolamine is degraded to lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine and fatty acids by a phospholipase in post-heparin plasma at rates of 10 to 30 μmoles/hr per ml plasma. The optimal system for measuring this enzyme contained albumin and (NH4)2SO4, and the optimal pH was 8.8–9.1.

Phospholipid Signaling in Crop Plants: A Field to Explore. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel)
In plant models such as Arabidopsis thaliana, phosphatidic acid (PA), a key molecule of lipid signaling, was shown not only to be involved in stress responses, but also in plant development and nutrition.

Phospholipases in Gliomas: Current Knowledge and Future Perspectives from Bench to Bedside

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2023
Phospholipases are essential intermediaries that work as hydrolyzing enzymes of phospholipids (PLs), which represent the most abundant species contributing to the biological membranes of nervous cells of the healthy human brain.

Phospholipases A in Trypanosomatids [PDF]

open access: yesEnzyme Research, 2011
Phospholipases are a complex and important group of enzymes widespread in nature, that play crucial roles in diverse biochemical processes and are classified as A1, A2, C, and D. Phospholipases A1and A2activities have been linked to pathogenesis in various microorganisms, and particularly in pathogenic protozoa they have been implicated in cell ...

Human phospholipases A2: a functional and evolutionary analysis

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2023
Phospholipases A2 (PLA2) are capable of hydrolyzing the sn-2 position of glycerophospholipids to release fatty acids and lysophospholipids. The PLA2 superfamily enzymes are widespread and present in most mammalian cells and tissues, regulating metabolism,
