How ultraviolet‐induced stromal degeneration relates to invasion‐related extracellular matrix markers remains unclear. Consoli et al. mapped eight Chl f‐binding sites in far‐red‐light‐acclimated photosystem I (FR PSI). Structural and spectroscopic evidence supports the involvement of Chl f at the A−1B site in primary charge separation and indicates that its protein microenvironment modulates redox properties.
