On the use of asymmetric PSF on NIR images of crowded stellar fields

open access: yes, 2014
We present data collected using the camera PISCES coupled with the Firt Light Adaptive Optics (FLAO) mounted at the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT).

DEEP OPTICAL PHOTOMETRY OF SIX FIELDS IN THE ANDROMEDA GALAXY [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2009
Using the Advanced Camera for Surveys on the Hubble Space Telescope, we have obtained deep optical images reaching well below the oldest main sequence turnoff in six fields of the Andromeda Galaxy. The fields fall at four positions on the southeast minor axis, one position in the giant stellar stream, and one position on the northeast major axis. These

Activation of Kir4.1 Channels by 2‐D08 Promotes Myelin Repair in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiple sclerosis causes myelin loss and neurological dysfunction. This study shows that 2‐D08, a small molecule targeting Kir4.1 channels, promotes OPCs differentiation via FYN tyrosine kinase phosphorylation and the FYN/MYRF pathway. It significantly improves myelin repair and motor deficits in EAE mice and marmosets, highlighting its potential as a

Cosmology with Galaxy Photometry Alone [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We present the first cosmological constraints using only the observed photometry of galaxies. Villaescusa-Navarro et al. (2022; arXiv:2201.02202) recently demonstrated that the internal physical properties of a single simulated galaxy contain a significant amount of cosmological information.

Imaging of the Stellar Population of IC10 with Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics and the Hubble Space Telescope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present adaptive optics (AO) images of the central starburst region of the dwarf irregular galaxy IC10. The Keck 2 telescope laser guide star was used to achieve near diffraction-limited performance at H and K' (Strehls of 18% and 32%, respectively ...

The Locus Coeruleus‐Periaqueductal Gray GABAergic Projection Regulates Comorbid Pain and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LC‐GABA neurons exhibit elevated activity to noxious and aversive stimuli in chronic pain, and their activation alleviates pain‐ and depression‐like behaviors. While LC‐GABA neurons target LC‐NA neurons and GABA and Glu neurons in the vlPAG, they modulate the pain responses of LC‐NA neurons but regulate pain‐ and depression‐like behaviors through their

TASS Mark IV Photometric Survey of the Northern Sky [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Amateur Sky Survey (TASS) is a loose confederation of amateur and professional astronomers. We describe the design and construction of our Mark IV systems, a set of wide-field telescopes with CCD cameras which take simultaneous images in the $V$ and $

Optical and infrared photometry of Arakelian 120 [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1978
Optical and IR photometry of the Seyfert class 1 galaxy Arakelian 120 covering the wavelength range from 0.36 to 3.5 microns is reported. The observed fluxes are found to consist of contributions of starlight from the surrounding galaxy, emission lines, thermal gas continuum, nonthermal radiation, and possible IR emission from dust.
