Photonic hydrogels combining the slow photon effect and NO gas therapy for synergetic enhanced photodynamic antibacterial therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) offers potential for combating bacterial infections through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, the antibacterial efficiency of PDT is largely impeded by the limited photon absorption of photosensitizers and the short diffusion length and lifespan of ROS.

Analytic modeling of photon scatter from flattening filters in photon therapy beams

Analytic models for calculation of scatter distributions from flattening filters in therapy photon beams are presented. It is shown that the amount of scatter with high atomic number filters can vary from 2% in 4‐MV beams to 10% for 24‐MV beams. The use of low atomic number filters can increase the amount of scatter by a factor of 2.

Photon irradiation response of photonic crystal fibres and flat fibres at radiation therapy doses

Radiation effects of photon irradiation in pure Photonic Crystal Fibres (PCF) and Flat fibres (FF) are still much less investigated in thermoluminescense dosimetry (TLD). We have reported the TL response of PCF and FF subjected to 6 MV photon irradiation. The proposed dosimeter shows good linearity at doses ranging from 1 to 4 Gy.
