Pain in photodynamic therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Photodynamic therapy is a modern treatment with applications in several medical specialties, which has been intensely studied in the last years. The main indications in dermatology are actinic keratosis, superficial basal cell carcinoma and Bowen\u27s ...

Bismuth-gold nanohybrid based nano photosensitizer to combat antimicrobial resistance

open access: yesScientific Reports
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) leads to a decrease in the adequacy of antimicrobial agents and an increase in the rate of adverse effects and mortality. The main objective of this project is to investigate the synergistic effect of BiAu@NCLin-T1 and its ...

Photosensitive chalcogenide metasurfaces supporting bound states in the continuum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We study, both theoretically and experimentally, tunable metasurfaces supporting sharp Fano-resonances inspired by optical bound states in the continuum. We explore the use of arsenic trisulfide (a photosensitive chalcogenide glass) having optical properties which can be finely tuned by light absorption at the post-fabrication stage.

A Quantum Mechanical Description of Photosensitization in Photodynamic Therapy using a Two-Electron Molecule Approximation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
A fundamental, Quantum Mechanical description of photoactivation of a generic photosensitizer and the ensuing transfer of energy to endogenous oxygen as part of the Type II pathway to photodamage during photodynamic therapy (PDT) is presented. The PS and molecular oxygen are approximated as two-electron molecules.

Efficacy of Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy for Treating Moderate to Deep Periodontal Pockets in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesDentistry Journal
Background/Objectives: Diabetes mellitus and periodontitis share a significant, bidirectional relationship. Diabetes raises the risk of periodontitis and influences its severity, impacting tissue repair and bone metabolism.

Pain in photodynamic therapy: mechanism of action and management strategies Dor na terapia fotodinâmica: mecanismo de ação e estratégias de manejo

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2012
Photodynamic therapy involves administration of a photosensitizing drug and its subsequent activation by irradiation with a light source at wavelengths matching the absorption spectrum of the photosensitizer.

Electro- and photoswitching of undulation structures in planar cholesteric layers aligned by a polyimide film possessing various values of the anchoring energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The base for this manuscript was laid down by the studies carried out in the article by Senyuk B, et. al. Proceedings of SPIE. 2005; 5936: 59360W-1-9. In the present manuscript, a planar layer of the photosensitive cholesteric, based on the chiral dopant 2-(4'-phenylbenzylidene)-p-menthane-3-one dissolved in the nematic E7, under the alternating ...

A Phase I Trial of Aminolevulinic Acid-Photodynamic Therapy for Treatment of Oral Leukoplakia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background Photodynamic therapy with aminolevulinic acid (ALA PDT) for oral leukoplakia has shown promising effects in regression of oral leukoplakia. Although ALA has been extensively studied and is an ideal photosensitizer, the optimal light dose for ...
