Reduced minimum model for the photosynthetic induction processes in photosystem I.
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2016Photosystem I (PS I) is one of the most important protein complexes for photosynthesis, which is present in plants, algae and cyanobacteria. A variety of mechanisms for environmental response in and around PS I have been elucidated experimentally and theoretically.

In vivo regulation of proton motive force during photosynthetic induction
Environmental and Experimental Botany, 2018Abstract Thylakoid proton motive force (pmf) plays a central role in photosynthesis. However, the regulation of pmf during photosynthetic induction is not well known. In the present study, in order to investigate the importance of cyclic electron flow (CEF) and chloroplastic ATP synthase in pmf formation during photosynthetic induction, we examined ...

Plants grown in the field experience sharp changes in irradiation due to shading effects caused by clouds, other leaves, etc. The excess of absorbed light energy is dissipated by a number of mechanisms including cyclic electron transport, photorespiration, and Mehler-type reactions. This protection is essential for survival but decreases photosynthetic

Fluctuating light (FL) and drought stress usually occur concomitantly. However, whether drought stress affects photosynthetic performance under FL remains unknown. Here, we measured gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, and P700 redox state under FL in

Fluorescence studies of the photosynthetic induction period
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Specialized Section on Biophysical Subjects, 1964Abstract The fluorescence intensity of green leaves at the beginning of an irradiation period is lower than at the subsequent steady state of illumination. This is interpreted in terms of the adsorption in the dark of plant metabolites at an active chlorophyll surface and of their photochemical reduction in the first few seconds of strong irradiation.

PHOTOSYNTHETIC INDUCTION IN MARINE ALGAE
Canadian Journal of Botany, 1956Effects of dark time and of oxygen supply upon photosynthetic induction in Ulva were investigated polarographically and manometrically. Under continuously aerobic conditions, the induction period was of about two minutes' duration following one day in darkness in flowing sea water; beyond 10 min., length of the aerobic dark period had little effect ...

Factors affecting photosynthetic induction in spinach leaves
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1986Abstract Induction of photosynthetic carbon assimilation in spinach leaves in saturating CO2 has been studied in relation to such factors as the length of the preceding dark period, intensity of pre-illumination, irradiance and the phosphate status of the leaf, through measurements of O2 evolution and of changes in leaf metabolites. (i) In low light,

Photosynthetic induction in C4 leaves
Planta, 1985Simultaneous measurements of CO2 uptake, transpiration rate, and chlorophyll a fluorescence in leaf strips of C4 plants during the induction phase of photosynthesis are described. The timecourse of CO2 fixation is biphasic with the initial phase occurring within the first 1 to 5 min and the secondary phase consisting of a slow rise to the steady-state ...
