Pressure Solvation of Photosynthetic Pigments

Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2002
A novel barochromic technique to study solvation of molecular electronic states is introduced using chlorophyll and carotenoids as probes. Nonpolar carotenoids in nonpolar solvent demonstrate an excess barochromic shift over solvatochromic shifts of absorption at high pressures as a result of solute cavity compression.

Determination of Photosynthetic Pigments

2006
Photosynthesis is the main process that can harvest energy derived from the sun. Plants and cyanobacteria capture the light of the sun and utilise its energy to synthesise organic compounds from inorganic substances, such as nitrate and sulphate, to make their cellular material. Plant use solar energy to split water into oxygen and hydrogen.

EFFECTS OF PIGMENT HETEROGENEITY ON FLUORESCENCE IN PHOTOSYNTHETIC UNITS

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1976
SummaryA computer solution of the Pauli Master Equation is used to study the fluorescence quantum yield of a two‐dimensional random host‐trap‐anti‐trap system. Calculations predict that both the quantum yield and prompt fluorescence lifetime from photosynthetic units increase as pigment heterogeneity increases.

Function of Carotenoid Pigments in Non-Photosynthetic Bacteria

Nature, 1959
IT has been shown by several workers that the carotenes of photosynthetic bacteria protect the organisms against a lethel photodynamic reaction in which intracellular bacteriochlorophyll is the photosensitizer1,2. It has been suggested that the carotenes found in many non-photosynthetic bacteria may have the same protective function in these organisms1.

Extraction and Separation of Photosynthetic Pigments

2023
Nowadays, companies are looking for innovation as a way of affirmation in the national and international market. Thus, allying the concepts of sustainability and innovation, the textile industry investigates new molecules, pigments of natural origin, which may be substitutes for chemically synthesized molecules. Natural pigments are substances found in

Controlling Photosynthetic Excitons by Selective Pigment Photooxidation

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2018
As a basis of photosynthesis, photoinduced oxidation of (bacterio)chlorophyll molecules in the special reaction center complexes has been a subject of extensive research. In contrast, the generally harmful photooxidation of antenna chromoproteins has received much less attention.

The Main Groups of Photosynthetic Bacteria and Photosynthetic Pigments

MedScien
Photosynthesis is one of the most important process on today’s Earth, which provides most of the energy source of the Earth’s biosphere, changed and shaped the atmosphere and oceans in early days of the Earth. Photosynthetic bacteria are a kind of prokaryotic microorganism that can assimilate or dissimilate by using light energy as an energy source and

Intersystem crossing in photosynthetic pigments

Chemical Physics Letters, 1977
Abstract Intersystem crossing (ISC) of chlorophyll a in solution exhibits a strong solvent dependence and a weak deuterium isotope effect. This is due to the importance of the molecular geometry in promoting ISC. These results are generalized to other closely related photosynthetic pigments.
