Variable Coordination of Peroxide in a Dinuclear Copper Mono‐Oxygenase Model Complex Supported by a Pyridazine‐Bridged Ligand

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 28, October 11, 2025.
Variable coordination of peroxide: The reaction of the Cu(I) complex‐based on the BPMPD ligand with O2 at low temperatures initially led to a μ‐1,2 peroxo species (Cu2O2). By addition of an acid (lutidinium triflate), this species can be reversibly converted into a μ‐1,1‐hydroperoxo complex, which is monitored using UV/Vis spectroscopy and X‐ray ...

Hybrid Diagonal Approximation in Time‐Dependent Auxiliary Density Functional Theory

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 46, Issue 23, September 5, 2025.
Our work demonstrates that time‐dependent auxiliary density functional theory (TD‐ADFT) in combination with the hybrid diagonal approximation (HDA) for global and range‐separated hybrid functionals is a promising approach for low‐order scaling electronic excitation energy calculations.

Boron–Boron Single Bonds Mimicking Transition Metals

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 23, August 26, 2025.
Through careful design of the substituents, ambiphilic cationic diboranes are formed through substituent elimination from stable nucleophilic diboranes. The ambiphilic reactivity could be used to coordinate and selectively reduce organic substrates in the diborane coordination sphere.

Dinuclear Copper Complex with a Pyridazine‐Bridged Octadentate Ligand: Monooxygenase Activity and Characterization of Copper‐Oxygen Intermediates

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 37, July 2, 2025.
Access to various copper‐oxygen intermediates: Depending on the reaction conditions, different copper‐oxygen intermediates can be obtained with our new dinuclear complex. Whereas low‐temperature oxygenation leads to a μ‐1,1 hydroperoxo complex, oxygenation at room temperature generates a “green species” that looks like a mono μ‐oxo complex but rather ...

Advances in Mechanochemical Methods for One‐Pot Multistep Organic Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 34, June 17, 2025.
This review highlights recent advances in mechanochemical methods for multistep organic synthesis, focusing on sequential one‐pot approaches performed by grinding or ball milling. The presented transformations are discussed in terms of efficiency, applicability, and sustainability, assessing both the challenges and potential of solvent‐free one‐pot ...

The first example of an intramolecular westphal reaction. Synthesis of a new aza-quinolizinium type system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The first example of an intramolecular Westphal condensation is described. To test the utility of this reaction, new benz(f)azino[2,1-a]phthalazinium salts have been prepared from appropriate dicarbonyl precursors. The authors wish to thank the Comisión ...

Bisboron chemistry in small molecule activation and the synthesis of novel BN aromatics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The research on small molecules such as CO2, H2 and NH3BH3 receives currently a lot of attention. For instance, CO2 is largely produced from industrial process and transportation, which leads to serious environmental issues.

One-pot synthesis and negative ion mass spectrometric investigation of a densely functionalized cinnoline, 3-amino-5,7,8-trichloro-6-hydroxycinnoline-4-carbonitrile [PDF]

open access: yes
Known densely substituted 3-amino-5,7,8-trichloro-6-hydroxycinnoline-4-carbonitrile was synthesized using a new synthetic protocol involving chloranil and malonitrile via quinone methide formation.
