Self-Assembly of Phycoerythrin with Oligochitosan by Electrostatic Interaction for Stabilization of Phycoerythrin

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2021
Phycoerythrin (PE) is a natural water-soluble pigment protein with characteristic phycobilins and is sensitive to thermal and light environmental changes. In this study, PE was extracted from Porphyra haitanensis and PE-oligochitosan complexes (POC) were fabricated by a self-assembly approach.

Exciton Interactions in Phycoerythrin

Photosynthesis Research, 1986
Upon assembly of the phycoerythrin trimer into hexamer and the hexamer into dodecamer, marked spectral changes are observed. The absorption and circular dichroism spectra of the various phycoerythrin aggregates were resolved into Gaussian components representing individual electronic transitions of phycoerythrobilin chromophores within these proteins ...

Immunofluorescent labeling using covalently linked anti‐phycoerythrin antibodies and phycoerythrin polymers

Cytometry, 1991
AbstractWe have developed methods for covalently attaching anti‐phycoerythrin (PE) MAbs to other antibodies, and for using PE or polymers of PE in conjunction with these conjugates to rapidly produce specific, high intensity fluorescent labeling of antigens.

Labeling Antibodies with Cy5-Phycoerythrin

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2019
Conjugates of the FRET dye Cy5-phycoerythrin (Cy5PE) with antibodies are relatively straightforward to make. The protocol does require synthesis of the Cy5PE tandem dye. Phycoerythrin (PE) can be purchased from multiple vendors. This type of conjugate is useful for immunofluorescence studies involving protein targets with low expression levels ...

Characterization of cryptomonad phycoerythrin and phycocyanin

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1976
Phycoerythrin, a chromoprotein, from the cryptomonad alga Rhodomonas lens is composed of two pairs of nonidentical polypeptides (..cap alpha../sub 2/..beta../sub 2/). This structure is indicated by a molecular weight of 54,300, calculated from osmotic pressure measurements and by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) gel electrophoresis, which showed bands with

The B-phycoerythrin chromophore

Phytochemistry, 1970
Abstract A study of the isolated subunits of B-phycoerythrin as well as the native biliprotein itself provides further support to the conclusion that phycoerythrobilin is the only chromophore in B-phycoerythrin.

Biliprotein light-harvesting strategies, phycoerythrin 566

Biochemistry, 1990
A series of experiments on the light-harvesting properties of the cryptomonad biliprotein phycoerythrin 566 has been carried out on purified protein isolated from Cryptomonas ovata. Although this pigment has an absorption maximum at 566 nm, a property very close to that of other phycoerythrins, it was found to have a totally unique set of chromophores.

Indirect immunofluorescence labelling with complexes of phycoerythrin and monoclonal anti-phycoerythrin antibodies (PEAPE complexes)

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1988
We describe a method of immunofluorescence which is a lateral application of the principles of the APAAP immunohistochemical technique. Immune complexes of R-phycoerythrin and monoclonal anti-R-phycoerythrin (PEAPE complexes) were used in an indirect immunofluorescence technique to detect the binding to cells of monoclonal antibodies directed to IgM ...

Phycoerythrin-phycocyanin aggregates and phycoerythrin aggregates from phycobilisomes of the marine red alga Polysiphonia urceolata

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2019
Phycoerythrin-phycocyanin aggregates and phycoerythrin aggregates showing special spectral characteristics were prepared from the partly dissociated products of phycobilisomes from Polysiphonia urceolata. The absorption difference spectra between the aggregates and phycoerythrins showing normal spectral characteristics show peaks at 583 nm.

Epifluorescent single-molecule counting with Streptavidin-Phycoerythrin conjugates

Analytical Biochemistry, 2022
Single-molecule methods, specifically single-molecule counting, convey high sensitivity in research applications. However, single-molecule counting experiments require specialized equipment or consumables to perform. We demonstrate the utility of using bright Streptavidin-Phycoerythrin (SA-PE) conjugates and an epifluorescence microscope, for single ...
