A Reevaluation of Cryolava Flow Evolution: Assumptions, Physical Properties, and Conceptualization
AbstractCryovolcanism has been invoked to explain numerous features observed on icy bodies. Many of these features show similar morphologies to volcanic features observed on Earth suggesting similar physics involved in their formation. Cryovolcanism lies at the intersection of volcanology and hydrology but as such, no one model from either discipline ...

ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Practical Guide of Key Physical Considerations in Numerical Analysis for Nanophotonic Experiments
Interest in the ever-expanding field of nanoscopy techniques has greatly increased in recent years. Specifically, in-depth characterization through optical techniques capable of nano-resolution enables a deep understanding of nanostructures and their ...

ABSTRACT End‐of‐life conversations with adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer rarely occur without the guidance of healthcare professionals. As a part of the ‘Difficult Discussions’ study, focused on palliative care and advance care planning discussions with AYAs with cancer, we investigated the factors that healthcare professionals identify ...

A Hierarchical Spatio-Temporal Statistical Model Motivated by Glaciology [PDF]
In this paper, we extend and analyze a Bayesian hierarchical spatio-temporal model for physical systems. A novelty is to model the discrepancy between the output of a computer simulator for a physical process and the actual process values with a ...

ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Quantum information versus black hole physics: deep firewalls from narrow assumptions [PDF]
The prevalent view that evaporating black holes should simply be smaller black holes has been challenged by the firewall paradox. In particular, this paradox suggests that something different occurs once a black hole has evaporated to one-half its original surface area.

Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Rotational invariance as an additional constraint on local realism
Rotational invariance of physical laws is a generally accepted principle. We show that it leads to an additional external constraint on local realistic models of physical phenomena involving measurements of multiparticle spin 1/2 correlations.

Quantum bit commitment from a physical assumption [PDF]
Mayers and independently Lo and Chau have shown that unconditionally secure quantum bit commitment is impossible. In this paper we show that under the assumption that the sender is not able to perform generalized measurements involving more than n qubits coherently (n-coherent measurements) then quantum bit commitment is possible.
