Chondrule size and related physical properties: a compilation and evaluation of current data across all meteorite groups

open access: yes, 2014
The examination of the physical properties of chondrules has generally received less emphasis than other properties of meteorites such as their mineralogy, petrology, and chemical and isotopic compositions.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Assessment in senior secondary physical education. Questions of judgement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ways in which various aspects of senior physical education courses should be assessed and whether some can, or indeed should be incorporated in external examinations, are matters of longstanding professional debate across Australia and ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Combined atypical primary hypoadrenocorticism and primary hypothyroidism in a dog [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A dog with combined atypical primary hypoadrenocorticism and primary hypothyroidism is described. The dog presented with waxing and waning, vague complaints since more than a year and had been treated with several drugs without complete resolution of ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Evolving multimorbidity patterns among ageing adults with cardiovascular disease continuum in Southwest China: A longitudinal cohort study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cardiology. Cardiovascular Risk and Prevention
Background: The progression of multimorbidity in Chinese ageing adults with cardiovascular diseases remains inadequately understood. This study investigates the longitudinal evolution of cardiovascular disease continuum (CVDC)-related multimorbidity ...

Circ_0008035 contributes to cell proliferation and inhibits apoptosis and ferroptosis in gastric cancer via miR-599/EIF4A1 axis

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2020
Background Currently, multiple circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been verified to act as essential regulators in the progression of gastric cancer (GC). We aimed to investigate the role of circ_0008035 in GC progression.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
