Occupational Identities and Physical Exertion in (re)configurations of New Technologies in Eldercare

open access: yes, 2019
New technologies are perceived as a solution to the rising proportion of people requiring elderly care across the Nordic countries. Implementing technologies has unforeseen consequences for the content of work and the working environment.

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Exploring the Psychological Effects and Physical Exertion of Using Different Movement Interactions in Casual Exergames That Promote Active Microbreaks: Quasi-Experimental Study

open access: yesJMIR Serious Games
BackgroundProlonged sedentary behavior, such as sitting or reclining, has consistently been identified as a stand-alone risk factor for heightened cardiometabolic risk and overall mortality.

The Acute Effects of Cognitively Demanding Physical Activity on Inhibitory and Affective Responses in Children: An Online-Based Mixed Methods Approach

open access: yesChildren, 2022
This online study investigated the acute effects of a cognitively demanding physical activity (CDPA) vs a simple physical activity (SPA) bout on children’s inhibitory and affective responses.

Physical exertion and triggering of myocardial infarction: reply [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2008
We thank Dr Culic for his insightful comments on our paper. We agree that our observations suggest that even though the relative risk for the association between moderate exertion and acute myocardial infarction (MI) onset is smaller than that for higher levels of exertion, the absolute number of MI cases that occur in association with moderate ...

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Comparison of different ways of expressing creatine kinase concentration of soccer players during a competitive season

open access: yesMotriz: Revista de Educacao Fisica
The aim of this study was to analyze the responses of creatine kinase [CK] expressed in different forms to the training load of professional soccer players during a competitive season. Twelve players (age, 24 ± 4 years) participated in the study.

Physical Exertion Immediately Prior to Placental Abruption: A Case-Crossover Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Epidemiology, 2018
While there is consistent evidence that episodes of physical exertion are associated with an immediately higher risk of acute ischemic vascular events, the risk of placental abruption immediately following episodes of physical exertion has not been ...

Pressure exerted by a vesicle on a surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Several recent works have considered the pressure exerted on a wall by a model polymer. We extend this consideration to vesicles attached to a wall, and hence include osmotic pressure. We do this by considering a two-dimensional directed model, namely that of area-weighted Dyck paths.
