The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Sexual Function before and after Total Hip Replacement: Narrative Review

open access: yesSexual Medicine, 2014
Background: More than 1 million total hip replacements (THRs) are performed every year worldwide. Achieving decreased pain, increased mobility, and improved quality of life (QoL) are key factors in the decision to undergo THR. Sexual activity is a valued

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Infant Formula Physical Stability

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1982
Abstract The physical nature of liquid infant formula products is characterized in terms of emulsion, suspension, and solution processes. Such mixtures inevitably undergo phase separation. A variety of physical and chemical phenomena govern the gradual changes in the appearance of these products.

Stability of SiNx Prepared by Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition at Low Temperature

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
In this paper, the environmental stability of silicon nitride (SiNx) films deposited at 80 °C by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition was studied systematically. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared reflection were used to

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Cyto/Biocompatibility of Dopamine Combined with the Antioxidant Grape Seed-Derived Polyphenol Compounds in Solid Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Background: The loss of nigrostriatal neurons containing dopamine (DA) together with the “mitochondrial dysfunction” in midbrain represent the two main causes related to the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Hence, the aim of this investigation is to

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

On Stability of Physics Systems

open access: yes, 2001
Within the framework of the hypothesis offered by authors about a complex-valued nature of physical quantities the stability of basic equations of the classical physics concerning complex-valued perturbations of parameters and boundary conditions is explored.

Physical Stability of Oil-In-Water Emulsion Stabilized by Gelatin from Saithe (Pollachius virens) Skin

open access: yesFoods, 2020
The objective of the present study was to investigate the physical stability of an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion stabilized with gelatin from saithe (Pollachius virens) skin obtained with three different extraction protocols compared to two commercial fish
