Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Evolution of world running record performances for men and women: physiological characteristics

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Running world records (WRs) contain information about physiological characteristics that determine running performance. The progression of WRs over time encode the evolution of these characteristics.

[Physiological status of the body and prediction of the effectiveness of drug therapy of depression. I. Physiological indicators of the reaction to antidepressive drugs].

open access: yesPsychiatria polska, 1992
Evaluation of pulse and breathing rhythm, postural muscle tone, mood and simple reaction time to auditory signal were conducted sevenfold in each of 35 patients with endogenous depression during the six weeks of antidepressant administration. Increased pulse and breath rate and improved mood on the third day of treatment differentiates good and poor ...

The role of mitochondrial transporters in human physiology and adverse drug effects

open access: yes, 2023
Commonly prescribed medications often cause off-target mitochondrial dysfunction, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. Mitochondrial transport proteins form a significant class of potential off-targets that remain largely unexplored.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Testing for Placebo Effects Using Data from Blinded, Randomized Controlled Trials [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes a test for the existence of placebo effects, as described by the so-called expectancy theory. This theory, which is the dominant medical theory of how placebo effects operate, posits that health outcomes rise in individuals' beliefs ...

Reproducible and uniform cardiac ischemia: effects of antiarrhythmic drugs

open access: yes, 1978
The in vivo response of cardiac tissue to ischemia is inherently nonuniform, and as a result the drug effects in the latter are subject to great variability.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
