The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Weak phases $\gamma$ and $\alpha$ from $B^+$, or $B^0$ and $B_s$ decays

open access: yes, 1998
An improved flavor SU(3) method is presented for determining the weak angle $\gamma$ of the unitarity triangle using decay rates for $B^+\to K\pi, B^+\to K^+\bar K^0$ and $B^+\to \pi^+\eta$ (or $B^0\to K\pi$ and $B_s\to K \pi$), their CP-conjugate modes ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Identification of rice samples with rice blast resistance genes Pi-2 and Pi-b

open access: yesGrain Economy of Russia
Since rice blast is a disease that causes significant damage to rice all over the world, the intensive development of disease-resistant genotypes is of great urgency. The use of molecular biology technologies, new biotechnological approaches and molecular genetic methods allows creating disease-resistant varieties while reducing the time of their ...

A comparative analysis of in-medium spectral functions for $N(940)$ and $N^*(1535)$ in real-time thermal field theory

open access: yes, 2014
In the real-time thermal field theory, the nucleon self-energy at finite temperature and density is evaluated where an extensive set of pion-baryon ($\pi B$) loops are considered. On the other side the in-medium self-energy of $N^*(1535)$ for $\pi N$ and

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Observation of the B c + → J / ψ π + π 0 $$ {B}_c^{+}\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0 $$ decay

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The first observation of the B c + → J / ψ π + π 0 $$ {B}_c^{+}\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0 $$ decay is reported with high significance using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb −1, collected with the LHCb ...

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.
