Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

The pp -> pp pi pi pi reaction channels in the threshold region

open access: yes, 2007
The cross section for prompt neutral and charged three pion production in pp interactions was measured at excess energies in the range 160 - 217 MeV. That comprises the first measurement of the pp->pp pi0pi0pi0 reaction and the comparison with the pp->pp

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

New Measurements of Cabibbo-Suppressed Decays of D Mesons in CLEO-c

open access: yes, 2005
Using 281 pb^-1 of data collected with the CLEO-c detector, we report on first observations and new measurements of Cabibbo-suppressed decays of D mesons to 2, 3, 4, and 5 pions.

Finite-volume spectrum of $\pi^+\pi^+$ and $\pi^+\pi^+\pi^+$ systems

open access: yes, 2018
The ab-initio understanding of hadronic three-body systems above threshold, such as exotic resonances or the baryon spectrum, requires the mapping of the finite-volume eigenvalue spectrum, produced in lattice QCD calculations, to the infinite volume. We present the first application of such a formalism to a physical system in form of three interacting ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Assessment of Hydrochemical Characteristics of Groundwater Resources of the aquifer of the Sari-Ghaemshahr plain for Drinking and Irrigation Purposes [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی منابع آب, 2015
The Sari-Ghaemshahr plain is located in the province of Mazandaran, in the southeast boarders of the Caspian Sea. The water of 44 production wells was sampled in the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012 to determine their suitability for drinking and ...

Light sigma-Meson Production in Excited Upsilon Decay Processes I: Analyses

open access: yes, 2000
We analyze the pi pi production amplitudes in the excited Upsilon decay processes, Upsilon(2S)-->Upsilon(1S)pi+pi-, Upsilon(3S)-->Upsilon(1S)pi+pi- and Upsilon(3S)-->Upsilon(2S)pi+pi-, and the pi pi and KKbar production amplitudes in the charmonium decay

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
